ALDL to Laptop circut

ok here's the webpage for the circut i'm using
http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm
my question is would it be ok to leave this plugged in all the time. example, i have it plugged in to scan with my laptop but then just disconnect my laptop and leave the circut hooked up to the ALDL connections. what i'm wanting to do is actually splice the ALDL wires from behind and put the circut in the dash somewhere and just have a 9 pin serial port on my dash where that "Extended Range" emblem used to be so i can just hook up my computer without worrying about hooking the circut up every time
thanks
Andrew

You will be ok as long as the circuit design does not have a constant connection between terminals A and B of the ALDL because that will make the ecm act differently. Essentially, if A and B are not touching, what you plan to do is the same thing the factory did: a plug for diagnostics.
