ostrich problem

I just got my new Ostrich unit today. I hooked it up in the car but now I can't datalog. Anyone have any ideas for me? After unhooking the ostrich and putting my old prom back in, aldl works like normal. Also, I tried to "download current bin to emulator" but the car seems to be running in limp home mode. I need some help, please!

ok, I messed around for a while and it is running correctly now and I can datalog. I'm not sure that I'm able to upload to it, though. I tried a few drastic changes that didn't show in the "dash" on tunerpro. Its running rather rich, idling...especially in open loop...I tried pulling about 25% of the fuel where it idles and the blms and ints didn't change.

also, while on the subject of running rich idling... During normal driving conditions, in closed loop, when the engine comes to idle, the afr looks pretty good but when it sits and idles, it slowly gets richer and richer. Where should I go to try to correct this? vacuum is low so the fuel pressure regulator is probably upping the pressure quite a bit...

edit: after thinking about it a little more; I obviously can upload to the ostrich because its running from it, now. so, maybe i'm not actually changing what I think I am since I'm still somewhat new at all of this. I could probably tell more once I go out and drive the car and make changes then. I was trying to make changes with the car sitting in the driveway, idling, a few minutes ago.

couple things I've notice tuning my friends 747 BB TBI Chevelle, the updates only upload successfully for me after the ignition has been turned off and it sits for a few seconds to discharge power circuitry in the ecm.. but I believe moates says the ignition must be on.. might be differences in ecm's so yrmv. If you run TunerPro RT with the correct bin and definition files you can make changes on the fly after you have initialized the ostrich and enabled emulation.. very nice pieces of tuning hardware.. saves SO much time not having to flash chips

Make sure you have enabled emulation in TP RT (must be running the Real Time versions). The way you know is when you go to change something - if you are NOT emulating the little boxes at the bottom of that value's window says "save" and "cancel". If you are emulating, it says something else, "upload" or something like that - definitely not "save". At least on the 730 ECM it wrks that way, and changes are immediately sent to the Ostrich.

Thanks for the ideas! I've gotten it working, though. This little thing is awesome!

did some tuning on a 727 this weekend with the ostrich.. noticed some odd things though.. before I ever upload any bin to the ostrich I have to save the file in tunerpro rt first so it updates the checksum otherwise the engine starts in limphome.. also, once I have the car running normally and have emulation on.. changes work in realtime, but if the car engine stalls I had to save and re-upload the bin first before cranking or it runs in limphome.. besides these quirks it worked very nice
