$0D in pfi mode?

I have been looking for details on how to enable V8 PFI mode on a $0D '427, but so far have only found "hints". Anybody willing to share details? I am considering using 427's on a couple of projects.

I have several v6 memcals from 730's laying around, can I mod the netres on one to V8 mode and use it (with a new bin of course) on a '427 ? I am not interested in limp-home or knock filtering at this time (later on yes of course).

Any help greatly apreciated.

I snagged these notes somewhere, but they're for using the 85 code, might be close enough to work.....

Short pin 13 on the 16 pin memcal IC underneath the
knock module. That will allow the hardware to run the injectors every 4th DRP.

Here is what your new injector timings should look like.
Remember, the minimum pulse width constants should match the abilities of your injectors. Also the injector constant will be different for PFI mode.

CODE
X CPI or PFI 1=PFI
X Use Low Bpw offset vs BPW Table
0 Sync Idle Fuel (TBI)
0 Air Manage
X Canister Purge
X Linear EGR
0 Man Trans (0=TCC)
0 700R4

Injector Flow for PFI 12.67087 Grams
Async to Sync if Map > (TBI Only) 104.4 kPa
Async to Sync if RPM > (TBI Only) 6375 RPM
Sync to Aysnc if MAP > 104.1 Kpa
Sync to Async if RPM > 6350 RPM
Sync to Async BPW<= 1.296998 Msec
Async to Sync ( Or PFI Double Fire) 1.495362 Msec
Min Aysnc PW 1.90735 Msec
Max Aysnc PW 6.10352 Msec
Low BPW Offset vs BPW Table Bias 0.305176 Msec
Min Period Double Fire 0 Msec
Deg Delay From DRP to Inj Fire 0 Degrees
Sync Min BPW 1.296998 Msec
Sync Default BPW 1.693727 Msec

Low BPW Offset vs BPW

Usec BPW Msec Added
488 0.2746584
732 0.2288820
976 0.1983644
1220 0.1525880
1464 0.1220704
1708 0.0762940
1952 0.0457764
2196 0.0152588
2440 0.0000000
2684 0.0000000
2928 0.0000000
3172 0.0000000
3416 0.0000000
3660 0.0000000
3904 0.0000000

Refer to the hacks in the code section of this site

The important ones to play with are:
Sync to Async BPW<= 1.296998 Msec
(Main fuel pulse min width before aysnc with DRP)
Async to Sync ( Or PFI Double Fire) 1.495362 Msec
(Main fuel pulse return to sync with DRP)
Min Aysnc PW 1.90735 Msec
(AE async pulses between main fuel DRP pulses min width)
Max Aysnc PW 6.10352 Msec
(AE async pulses between main fuel DRP pulses maximum separation)
The values and table from the previous post were set up for 29# injectors with no problems.
The AE (accel enrich) pulses should be kept in between the main sync fuel pulses. Make sure they do not fall below the minimum injector mechanical width and do not occur to close to each other or the main fuel pulses.
When in doubt use a scope. Logged data will never show you this information.....

Thats awesome, even better than I thought.
I've been trying to learn all I can about the '427 for the last few days and havent come up with much.

I have been looking for a board schematic but havent found one yet. I'm guessing its not just another 730 variant. Thats why i was kinda curious if the modified 730 memcal could be made to work (sans proper limp and knock filter).

I have four or five upcoming projects for myself and friends that include TBI, PFI, Dual TBI and boosted PFI. It is looking like this computer may be flexable enough to do all of the above with just some code patches and driver mods, all using the same mask as a base. The posibility of using 4l60E on any of the above is the icing on the cake.

I believe that's a P66 series of PCM, rather then a P4 (730).

Do enough rewritting of the code and you can do about anything, with anything <G>
