EBL and Prominator questions New Guy...

Lets say I have a stock L05 in my car and a L05 ecm and I send it out to have the EBL installed when I get the ECM back if I jus plug it back in will it run just like it did before?

Does prominator work with EBL?

I would like to make my tunning to put a ZZ4 in with TBI on top as easy as possible.

Does EBL come with the cables and what not I need to hook up to the ECM.

Please bare with me if any of questions are dumb but I have done searches on EBL and I get a lot of advanced questions that I havn't even begun to learn yet.

Thanks

The Prominator does work with the EBL setup. The ECM with the Prominator first needs to go to Bill (Speedtronics). He will remove and reconfigure the Prominator. Both the ECM & Prominator are then shipped to us. The EBL board is installed along with the Prominator. Then returned to the customer. Bill will ship directly to us, so no double ship required.

Cable for data logging is included.

Little cunfused...

I just send the ECM to have EBL installed then he ships it to you? Then back to me?

Thanks you answer all my questions but one.

If I send you my ECM that worked before will I be able to plug it right back in and have it work like it did before?

Prominator: depends upon whether you currently have one or not. If you have an ECM with one installed then the above scenario is correct.

However, if you do not have a Prominator, then after we install the EBL board it then goes to Bill. He'll install the Prominator and return ship to you. At order time it is important to let us know that a Prominator is going to be installed.

As for plugging it in and having it run just like your current ECM. Most likely not. It will run the engine, but tuning will be required. The EBL is provided with a BIN that must be used. Along with the XDF/ECU files and calibration term documentation. In the end it will run better then the stock ECM, even if it currently has a better tune.

OK makes sense. I didn't want to send it out and get it back..plug it in and have basicaly all the tables empty and have to start from scratch I would be totaly lost.

Re: EBL and Prominator questions New Guy...

Why would you install both a EBL and a Prominator? Don't they do the same thing?

The new EBL (EBL Flash) has an E-prom so that you do not need to remove the chip to burn it. You just flash it via EBL software. The old EBL did not have this feature.

Re: EBL and Prominator questions New Guy...

To clarify. The Flash EBL will not require the Prominator.

My EBL uses a serial connection. Not sure if later EBL uses USB??? So for cable you need a serial to USB adapter unless your lap is older with serial. Now my Prominator uses Parallel port. Not sure is later uses USB? My lap has no Parallel port so I use a PCMIA card to create one. Not sure what Flash EBL offers in this regard.

I think RBob was being kind to Prominator not mentioning Flash? Please do not take offense.
