Sorry but i dont know all the terms so forgive me. The car is a 90 IROC sd using 8d. the motor is a 406 with 30# injectors. I have the injector constant set at 32.9 with the fuel pressure around 44.5. The car is setup with an open loop tune. And runs really well ive been tweeking it for a few years now. Part throttle and wot is really strong no real drivabilty problems.
I was getting 02s in the upper 800s after having it tuned on a dyno about five years ago. So ive always used that as a reference. I know the stock 02 isnt supposed to be acurate. But thats all i got till i get the wideband.
The problem im having is cant seem to get any more fuel at wot. Having done porting on the intake/airlid and higher flowing exhaust from the headers back. Both were a big restriction. The car picked up some solid seat of the pants power. Never looked at the fueling till this weekend. Noticed it was lean,(so I think)and tried to add fuel. The pulse widths are staying around 8.8 to 9.2 at the lowest/highest. During a wot run using an auto-xray scanner. The o2s are around 780mv at the lowest to 830mv on the topend. This is a 2400 to 5500 run. The plugs look good, to me anyways.
I tried adding fuel in the pe % rpm tables. And no change in the pulse width or o2s. Ive added fuel in the ve tables 90/100 kpa range from 2800 up. And no real change there either.
I havent tried dropping the injector constant or upping the fuel pressure. Because i have idle, part throttle, even wot pulls strong. All working well, its just the low wot o2s that have me worried. And dont want to start over with the whole tune if i dont have to. I think if i start changing these i will.
If some of you more seasoned tuners could give me some ideas where to go with this i would really appreciate the help.
Your need the PW patch for your setup. On an increasing engine displacement the PW gets limited. In the Tuning Guide Booking sticky is a link to the patch and how to apply it.
As Bob said, the stock AUJP has a limitation where over a certain displacement/Injector size, the code cannot increase the Pulse Width any further.
Go to the thread above and do some reading on the "Super" AJUP where this problem is fixed, as well as other addressing other limitations of the stock AUJP code.
Rbob..Thank you.. I found the post about the pw cap. But i dont understand what needs to be changed. I know the information is all there just have to read more I guess. Not sure if i can even do it. I only have a pocket programmer II and tunercat.
I would like to just add it to my current chip if i can.
Glenn/Grim......Thanks for that link, i have been away from the tuning for a while. Things have really come along way thanks to some great folks.
I tried the link to craigs site to download a copy of the SuperAUJP but it says I need a password.
Hi JP... thank you..I see the lines that need to be changed. But i dont understand where and how. Can i do it with Tunercat or the programmer software?
Edit..well i found a copy of super AUJP3. Ive copied over all the stuff that i needed to from my tuned chip. But i have a question, after reading the text file. Is my upper ve table not going to work now? I didnt fully understand what Tim was saying about the upper table not working.
Sorry for the stupid questions, i dont know what im doing and want to get this right?
A lot of guys just get a TunerCat's TDF Editor and make the changes to the tables to the $8D.TDF You do get to use it for "free" for 30 days.
However, unless you buy it, you need to overwrite your changes as your "new" $8D. But, if you buy the TDF Editor, then you can save the changed $8D.TDF as something different like $8DS.TDF (S for Super) and retain your orginal $8D.
Alternatively, you could save your original $8D TDF in some other directory and then just "swap" the two TDFs as you need.
This is a code change not a calibration value.
I'm not sure you could do it through the TDF without specifying the code location in a customized TDF file.
For all that work you could just edit the actual bin file in a hex editor and make the change. The instructions are there to do it that way.
Then open the file in your normal bin editor to recalc the checksum.
Upper table will work fine, its the extended upper table that would need to be enabled to work in the V3 IIRC. Been a while since I looked at that but the fire has been re-lit on the V4 completion so I'll be getting back into it deeper soon.
Oh....I see.. i dont need that ext table. Nice to have with a higher flowing intake. But with the Superram i shift at 5500 anyways.
Thats great so i should be able to use the Super AUJP3 and it will have the code changed for the pw cap! Awesome... I have the afternoon off, so i will burn it and see how it goes!
Well im using the Super AUJP3...The car is running better then it ever has thanks to this bin. Throttle response and part throttle power is improved. All around drivabilty is improved. Even wot feels like it has had a nice torque boost. I copied my ve and spark tables so its something else where in the tuning. Whatever it is.. works.
Bad thing is i still cant get pulse widths over 9.2 at wot throttle. The o2s are still between 780/800mvs. Still running lean dont want to push it.
I added fuel in the ve tables, pe% rpm at wot, openloop% change at wot in the 90/100 range. It was running quite a bit leaner at first using the same fuel settings as my modfied 8d tune. It wasnt till i increased the above that i was able to get the pulse widths and 02s were it was to start with. Before the bin change
I felt like i added a lot too....
Do you guys think i still need to enable the ext ve tables to get the pw cap removed? I will try increasing these tables more tomorrow and see where it goes.
Was just doing some reading and i found a post of Tims. Something about the wrong values used in the upper tables of the first posted superaujp3 bin. It being in lower case letters. Those are the bins i have from 3/22.
Where are the lastest superaujp3 files located?
The links in the stickies dont work. Could someone please tell me where to get the latest version of superAUJP3 Please?

The issue was that the stock tables included were not correct IIRC.
If you have copied your VE into the bin, its fine.

I wasn't talking anything about a code change, I was talking about Super AUJP bin which has the issue resolved plus a lot of other "modification". If a person uses the Super AUJP, they need to modify the Extended VE Tables addresses to use it, and hence my comment of TDFs.
Right, I forgot if you have TC you can't even see the table or option bits for the WB. Need to add to the stock definition.
I don't have TC, Been working with TP too long
