I havn't had much success with my laptop. It seems to only record at 2 or 3 records per second with Scannerpro. Neat program though.

i've had similar issues. it seems dependent on the size of the scannerpro window. smaller window give more records per second. actually, i've seen similar issues with tunerpro.

Yah maybe i'll try that out.
I get 6-8/second with Datamaster and around the same with tunerpro I think

Jeff post your connection string.. We might be able to make it connect.

I had a similar problem with $58/$59. (before Turbodig made an ALDL patch to make it easier to connect to it) Magnus helped me make a Spam Macro that spammed the hell out of the ecm unit it connected. That might not work for you but it is worth a try. Post your ADX and I will see if I can make one for you to do this.

Cool, I tried doing so of the things from the SY/Ty stuff with no success.

Anyway the Data Streams are A115 (ECM) and A111 (CCM)

I used Datamaster to connect with PORTMON running and found these few data writes to the Car:

WRITE Length 4: F1 56 08 B1

WRITE Length 5: F1 57 07 40 71
READ Length 23: F1 57 07 40 71 40 55 6B 41 61 00 F4 00 43 43 01 01 00 68 76 00

WRITE Length 5: F1 57 07 10 A1
READ Length 12: F1 57 07 10 A1 10 59 08 43 00 00 4C

WRITE Length 5: F4 57 01 00 B4
READ Length 72: F4 57 01 00 B4 F4 95 01 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 43 43 1C 00 00 3C

now I am going to get Datamaster set up an go out and do another port capture. I found that after a while it seems the ALDL stops Communicating when I send individual commands ( with another porgram) turn the key off and on and I can get it to work. I just need to shut the CCM up and I think ScannerPro will work great.

I just did a Datamaster Serial capture.. looks like the F156 08B1 (silence) gets set 6 times, then you see the F157 0740 71 and F157 0710 A1 about after every 5th time of F457 0100 B4.

Now F1 57 07 10 is a CCM Mode 7 Command Message, but I am not sure what the F1 57 07 40 71 is.. the 07 10 has a response length of 12, while the 07 40 is a length of23

ScannerPro needs a bit of computing power. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 300Mhz. If it changes with the window size, then your graphics chip is the bottleneck.

my laptop is 1.1Ghz with a 32MB nvidia geforce2go (not integrated and no shared memory). it'll run Quake III at 60fps, no problem. although it's 2D performance may be causing this issue.

BTW, i see this issue with scannerpro and tunerpro

Interesting. On the surface it looks like your system should be fine. It could be 2D performance, but any modern video chip should do fine with good ol' standard GDI.

It might also be serial performance, or a driver issue if you're using a USB converter or USB cable. Although that wouldn't change with window size.

'91 dash and wiring? The problem is likely that you have the BCM on the ALDL line. Everything needs to be silenced first before the scanner can talk to the ECM. It then becomse the scanner's responsibility to forward data to the BCM to update the dash, etc. ScannerPro was designed to be able connect to this vehicle. I just haven't found anyone capable of creating the necessary definition, and I don't have access to a test vehicle to do it myself.

Yes, but I don't have a CCM/BCM and dash to test this specifically. A vehicle at my disposal (if I promise not to dispose of it) would be good. =)

I may have a CCM if you want to do the work yourself, for an ECM I can send my BIN file, but you would need to source a 7730.. I am still looking for one myself. once I have the 7730 I should be set, I have 2 CCMs on the Shelf, one is a 92 6spd, then other I thought was a 90-91 but might be a 92 which will not help.
----------
Also, I could use my car to test code too, since spring is here now

I've got one of just about every major OBDI ECM with matching pigtails, so I'm good there. I'll continue to track down a vehicle (perhaps over on the Vette forum). Thanks for the offer! I'll let you know (via email)...
