PE way too rich per WB. why?

my WB was out of action till a couple weeks ago. did not run a WOT run till today.

8746 - EBL.

PE commanded to 12.7/1 in bin.

not using VAFPR on my Aeromotive REG yet. may do first time next week.

first PE event was 50%+ throttle movement MAP went to about 80% or 3.5V from 30 MPH. 2nd gear of 4(stick). A/F on fresh WB and calibrated went to 11.2/1.

shift to 3rd gear and TPS shows about 90% and MAP shows 95%. A/F goes to 10.4/1 and i can feel in SOP very rich and rpms stop climbing. engine is drowning in rich fuel. stayed PE for 2 secs. not crisp at all.

so something is wrong. 80 lbs injs at 20 lbs is fuel. my VE tables are pretty good but did not log over 3200 rpms much. as i stated before my BPC is fudged at 145 and should be around 92(350cid). did this to get 2600 thru 3200 rpms row at 40-70 MAP under 100. and was successful.

is FP too high?

i neglected to do a WU log just WB today. so DC is unk.

Try adjusting the VE table(s) in the 95-100 kPa area. Take the actual AFR / desired AFR.

You have... 11.2 / 12.7 = .88

To be safe I'd multiply the 95-100 kPa columns by .92 (instead of the full .88) and try again.

I've been using this method to nail down my WOT AFR and it's been working fine for me.

That's what I did for mine and it worked fine. I'm a proponent of getting the WOT FP setup right first THEN tuning PT.

Re: PE way too rich per WB. why?

Thanks guys. My WB was out of action end of last year and all of this season. i ended up moving it back in EXT stream. that may help longevity of sensor life. I need a "quick disconnect" for sensor.

that was what I was and did do but not yet validated it effect. I heard it is easier to add fuel than to remove it in real time use.

Car has never run better. will be adding the VAFPR(finally) this week after getting WOT into the 12's. should take 30 seconds.

dom: Glad to see you on this site. did you sell the CF and move on yet?

Ron,

Once you install the VAFPR, you'll do a "Homer" and hit yourself in the head for not doing it sooner. You'll be surprised at the difference and crispness in throttle response.
I did sell the Xfire several weeks ago and now have the 92 ZR-1 in my avatar.
I won't be moving from this site however. Too much good info and I want to use my tuning experience on the ZR. Not many DIY'ers for the ZR.
BTW, I'll be up in Gurnee over the next couple of days. Maybe we can meet up. I've still got some Xfire stuff if you're interested.

Yes Dom I think that is a good idea. I will hook up the VAFPR and we can cruise a bit. The only days I am available are mon-tues-wed pretty much 900am to 600 pm or so. give me a couple of options on dates times. thanks.
