Re: thanks/sorry in advance

reading through funsticks "definitive" article. now, is this info reliable or what? pretty much, just because im more familiar with tbi and theres far more information, im probably going to go to the 730 eventually but i have a 165 for now and need to know whats up and down you know? funstick is banned, though i dunno what for, however his article is still here. was it left just cause its the only real tuning article or is it useable info?

Re: thanks/sorry in advance

funstick knows a good bit, there is some good info in many of his posts, but not always by him.
he hasn't been gone that long, Last Activity 12-18-2006, i think you can see the reason for the ban.
if his posts weren't useful, 3.8TransAM wouldn't have linked them in the stickies.

there is some info over at http://www.diy-efi.org/
read the stuff by Bruce Plecan, aka Grumpy,
http://www.diy-efi.org/gmecm/papers/

a search here for the user Grumpy should also turn up some good info for you.

if your not already using it, you may want to use $6E instead of $32 or $32B, its more popular & there is more info available on it.

Re: thanks/sorry in advance

grumpy's stuff was great but is usually related to sd not maf,, so relating VE tables to maf tables is a lil off.. i guess to be more specific,, funstick looked like he knew alott, but grumpy basically told him off which leads to my confusion, who was right? i would trust something grumpy wrote over funsticks any day just because it was readable, however funsticks stuff is pretty much all that's out there for the 165'..

Re: thanks/sorry in advance

im thinking how can i word this. this is my opinion, which may be wrong.

if you notice, many times Grumpy would ask something like, "how did you come up with this? or, why do you think that?"
from his posts, funstick seemed to assume things, kind of like how to get around a barn, there is more than one way, he seemed to feel like his way was the best way but didn't really give a reason why.
to me, Grumpy was one who not only wanted to know where the barn was, but also wanted to know which way it faced, how it was built, what it was built out of, who designed & built it, why they built it & anything else he could learn about it because there may be a better way around it than the path everyone else is taking.
i think if funstick had explained how he came to his conclusions & been more open to other ideals, him & Grumpy would have gotten along better.

Re: thanks/sorry in advance

yep, clear as mud?

i don't think you'll find many problems with funstick's posts. just read all the way through them before you make any changes, but that also goes with every other post because someone may find a problem others don't have with the same changes or they may have mistyped something.

like Grumpy said, go slow, make small changes & take notes
