Ostrich / TunerPro 101 questions

Just getting my head around tuning with Ostrich.

Can I datalog with TunerPro through the USB connection or do I need the serial cable as well?

What are the exposed pins on the Moates adapter for?
Thanks

The ostrich is just an emulator, you will still need an ALDL cable to log with. Depending on your laptop you could use a serial ALDL cable or if you have USB only then you will need a serial to USB converter. Moates sells a complete ALDL Cable and Serial to USB package. It works damn well too.

If this the adapter you recieved, then the extra pins at the top are where the MEMCAL go and then the socket is where the cable to the Ostrich goes.

Like already said..the Ostrich is just to tune the engine. You will still need the ALDL cable and hook it up to your computer to datalog it.

Thank you gentlemen.

"the extra pins at the top are where the MEMCAL go"

Does this mean I can read a bin code off a memcal into TunerPro?

No. For that you'll need an HDR1 from Moates, and a chip burner/reader (BURN1, PP2, etc)

So what do you use these pins for?

Ostrich cable goes in ZIF socket ,
plug under Moates adapter fits in ECM socket replacing memcal
