hi, i just purchased a complete tpi system for a 87 camaro. i will be installing it either on my current 350 in my 80 camaro 4spd or building a 383 and putting it on. as far as mechanical im good but im in no way a computer guy. my last efi car i just called up the vendor and told him what i had and got my pcm flashed for it. i have been reading a few articles on here and my head is spinning with all this stuff. is there a tpi for dummies lol. i have a few books im reading as well.

If you have read the stickies read them again, if you have not read them you need to. Download Tunerpro RT, it should have what you need to look at for a 7165 ecm in it when you down load it. open it up and check out what inside, then look for the stuff you read about in the stickies. I could write down what to change to what and how to change it but you would be no better off than to mail order a chip because every setup needs its own tune and its not gonna happen over the phone or from a book. It takes time.

Start with the stickies and to keep it as simple as possible look for info on the ecm (1987 should be '165) you have.

He's right.
Also, if you are retro-fitting an older car with TPI, to to www.chevythunder.com and read there about some of the changes to make.
You can't go wrong with TGO.

thanks, yea i read the stickies and need to read them a few more times. its like learning a forien language lol. i had skipped obd1 when i went from my last camaro to my gtp. the gtp i just had to send an email to the vendor and got a perfect tune that if i needed and upgrade i just had to plug my laptop to my car while and they could do it live from a bunch of states away. all advice is welcome.
