so almost all i have found googling and searching this site is posts talking about resistance values and such, all the chip related info ends with people PMing answers about.
So heres my quick question...
Is disabling vats as simple as unchecking the box in tunerpro?
I was told on one board that it was an INTEGRATED part of the ecu and couldnt be done.... which we all know is BS
I am just looking for some confirmation that SIMPLY switching the option state is the correct procedure
If there is an error code that also needs to be disabled, please let me in, cuz this is a 2 second answer that ive already spent 2 evenings checking out.
thanks guys... now i gotta get me one of them shirts!
I have a question on this. As soon as my stuff arrives in the mail, I will be burning myself a PROM to disable the VATS. In TunerPro, there are more then two VATS boxes, and even in the screenshot above you see four (with one still checked), which one(s) do you uncheck?
I've also read this in a very old topic:
Quote:
Most of the VATS system is contained in the VATS module. If you want to disable the VATS system, bypass the starter relay and turn off VATS in the prom.
but the above statement says you have have to bypass the starter relay? Any insight on this?
it looks like there are more than 2 boxes for VATS, but only 2 are related to VATS.
1 is the enable box which when checked turns VATS on, the other box is for the VATS code, with it checked the ECM will set the VATS code.
the other things listed as VATS are for things at that address(HEX) in Switches & Flags but have a different bit number.
highlighting an item & then hitting F2 can many times gives you more info.
see the first 2 pics, highlighted are the 2 that need to be un-checked to disable VATS.
the third pic is bit 4 highlighted & then F2
there is a relay on the car that you need to either cut & splice the starter wires together or put a jumper wire between them.
you can use this relay for starter disable if you have an alarm system that has starter a disable feature. but this may make it easier for someone to find your alarm & disable it.
