Got an AutoProm from Moates. Been fiddlin with it all day long for the most part. I have an HP Pavilion, AMD Turion 64 Mobile Processor ML-34 (1.8GHz)...Windows XP.
I've messed with Drivers, COM ports, Settings galore... Both Flash n Burn and TunerPro RT do not recognize the AutoProm.
Any suggestions?

Hi, go into Tuner pro then open the Tools and goto Preferences an make sure Interface type is set to Autoprom. Comm port set to Comm1 ..Target Sample Rate set to 10Hz.....See if that does the trick

..should probably apply to your XP....
I would have thought that XP would work on it's own, when I got my windows Vista I plugged in the Autoprom and it worked right away. Anyway, give it a shot...

Well. Just inserting the USB Cable, the laptop PC does find the hardware, etc. But the AutoProm was still not "seen" by TunerPro RT. I have tried different drivers and COM ports to no avail.

2. I saved the moates drivers to their own specific folder so I could find them easily then ensured they were installed in the COM3 PORT. (Go to START->SETTINGS->CONTROL PANEL->SYSTEM->DEVICE MANAGER). Under device manager you should find COM3, go in there and set your drivers to the moates drivers per the website instructions.
3. Start your Autoprom program, select a valid bin, select a valid ecu.
4. go to TOOLS in Tunerpro, select PREFERENCES, select COM3, and AUTOPROM.
5. I would suggest rebooting right about now, leaving everything hooked up, and let the computer find the hardware and all. After the computer starts, then start TUNERPRO, it should state if it finds the Autoprom at the bottom edge of the TUNERPRO screen.
6. Once in Autoprom, assuming the computer latched onto the hardware, you can then go to TOOLS/ALDL DATA LOGGING (or press F4).
7. Once once you're in data logging, then ensure that you load the selected datastream.
8. After the selected datastream is loaded, and if everything came together properly, you should be able to connect to the ECM....it informs you if it connected.

The planets were never aligned properly. Basically with the Comm Port set to 5, TunerPro RT set to AutoProm, started over and used the Moates Self-Install...I just needed to have the AutoProm "Switches" in the correct location (Inboard). Amazing.

I'm guessing you were the one that had emailed me about this? You never replied letting me know the suggestion worked. I'll take this as a yes.
I used the contact form on Moates. Never got a reply from that. I called Craig Moates, and he left me a message of what to do. I may have emailed Craig, craig@moates.net. I emailed that address and said I got it to work and he replied back.

I was trying last night to just datalog my car through the ALDL connection. Couldn't get it to work, but at least I know its not the hardware's fault.
