About to buy ostrich, what hardware do i need for datalogging?

I'm excited to start learning about tuning hands on, just picked up a laptop today and i've been up all night reading threads and articles on this stuff. I want to buy the Moates Ostrich 2.0, as far as I understand I will need an adapter to use it with my 87 GTA (350 TPI), which one do i need?
Also, for real-time dataloging, do I just need a cable to connect to the ostrich or would it just connect directly to the laptop?
Thanks,
-Chris

The adapter you can use is the GP1 adapater. For the Ostrich it will have its own cable that plugs into that GP1, then a USB cord so you can connect to the laptop. After that, pay your 30 bux to support Tunerpro RT.

Okay, so I'm going to get the Ostrich 2.0 as well as the G1 adapter, that should take care of the emulation side of things, what do you guys recomend for an aldl cable? I've only got 1 usb port on my laptop so the aldl cable needs to be serial if i'm not mistaken? thanks

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong but he won't need the ALDL cable with the Ostrich for datalogging correct? I only did this like 3 times last season so I don't remember but my laptop doesn'pt have serial ports and I datalog through TunerPro RT and my Ostrich 2.0

Yes, he still needs an ALDL cable with the Ostrich. You're thinking of the AutoProm, AC.

I'd recommend the ALDU1 + CABL1 combo.

Please read through the documentation on the Moates site. http://www.moates.net/documentation.php

If you wanna swing by my shop sometime I'll show you how to use the stuff.

It will have to be before the end of april though, as I'm closing the doors for good.
