Want to burn a PROM for my V6, have questions

My VATS is starting to act up very badly, so I was considering bypassing it via resistor. I read that it can be bypassed in the computer (a while ago) and that sounds like a better plan to me. I'm starting to gather all the parts I will need to burn some proms, and have come across some questions.

First of all, my car is a 1992 Pontiac Firebird V6 T-5. The FAQ says its a good idea to purchase a second chip, which chip would I need to purchase? It also says that only TPI motors got the Memcal, but it doesn't reference the V6 anywhere, so does this apply to V6's as well?

My dad use to burn BIOS chips with an EPROM burner (has a separate eraser as well), will this work for our cars? As soon as he finds it, I can post a picture.

I've downloaded TunerPro, I guess I need to acquire a calibration file for the V6 (anyone have a link?) and then I should be good to download the bin file to my computer? Am I missing anything?

Through even more searching, I think I've found the stock BIN and the calibration file. 88.xdf for the calibration file and azty1407 88.bin for the stock BIN (is that correct?)

Yes, the $88 stuff and AZTY is correct for your vehicle. It also uses the same ECM as the SD TPI engines. So it too has a MEMCAL.

Can either pull the chip and socket it. Or get a G1 from moates.net.

For an EPROM need a minimum of 256 kb at 250 nsec or faster (27C256).

There is an older hac of the AZTY code over on the diy efi site.
