I know TurboDig worked on it some but not sure where he is at with it. I think he put that on hold, unless we need more RAM, while he works on some other features that he wants to get done.

It looks like the problem is in $58's ALDL code. I’m not sure if it’s mode 2 or mode 4, or both that are screwed up. Which are you using Monte? I found I’d downloaded RTP4.zip at some point from somewhere but don’t remember where. Isn’t that yours, Monte? Other than how to fix the $58 ALDL problem, it seems to have all the rest of info needed.
Does anyone have a map of $58's RAM they're willing to share? That would sure help me try to sort out the ALDL differences between $58 and $8D (as well as document my $58/$59 source code).
I ordered an NVSRAM module from Moates yesterday and would like to have this fixed by the time it arrives.
My little hack to the $8D code relies on the existing ALDL mode 2 and 3 commands working, in addition to a restructured mode 4 so that memory can be written to via ALDL. And then what makes it all work as an "emulator" is rewriting the $8D code so that it looks into the nvram address space for all calibration data instead of eprom...

It isn't spelled out in one single thread, but all the details of how to do it are posted for all to freely find. The hardware can be done for under $20 if you are skilled with a soldering iron, but failing that a through-hole version of the hardware is available from Moates as a bag-of-parts sold at near cost.
The whole thing works like a charm, and even real time 'emulation' is possible (but that feature is nonexistent due to lack of s/w for PC).

I just checked it out. Kinda neat. I like the future idea of doing everything through the aldl port with a GUI, would keep me from having my ostrich stuffed up the dash.

Yeah, that is my favourite part of it. No mess of ECM guts sitting on the passenger side floor! My wife's 83 T/A has the ECM (a 727) mounted in the engine bay and having the nvram module works really well in that situation!

I have to read a bit more, but to make it works requires patching the bin right, and then on top of that you need a programmer that's compatible with the NVRAM module - in which case tunerpro is not there yet, and tunercat is out for good ?
It seems like a really good future possibility. I'm looking forward to your progress. I'm using the $60 mask right now, ostrich, and tunercat.
$58 based code won't work with this yet. It is on our list with code59 to make happen and I know Dig tried it some. GM left some things to be desired and the ALDL communication stuff in $58 based chips is one of them and made it obvious to make work is more than just moving some data around in the chip, but a rewrite of some or most of that communcation routine.
