part throttle driveability issues

Hi all

took my car for a ride yesterday, and it still seems, that i have to do some fine tuning...

the engine is a 396 with 195elim.heads, single plane, and XFI467 cam,
6 speed...

when i start cold, i usually have to give a bit gas, so that the engine wants to start....

when driving with cold engine, it doesnt really run that smooth...
when the engine is warm, and i cruise with 4th gear at about 2000-3000 rpm everything ok, but when i step on the gas, i get some kind of strange vibration, that disappears when i let of the gas..

i don´t run a very aggresive spark table, and also the AE is fine, as the engine takes gas like it should...

i run 95octane (european), thats equal to your 91 octane...

can you point me in a direction?

thank you

Reinhold

Is the TB facing forward on an elbow? If so try a TB that faces the standard 'toward the sky' position. IIRC, antheses had an issue with the elbow setup. There is a thread about it here on diy_prom.

I'm running 165 w/maf so I don't know if this pertains to your system but... I had a simular problem and found that is was too much fuel and timing. Mine was doing it in the 1500 rpm range. Hope it helps.

hi

that is what i was thinking, too...VE not right, and spark not right...i will do some datalogs and see, what come out

otherwise. at higher rpm the engine really runs fine, no noises, etc...

Generally: i would not say, my combination is that radical, is it?

thank you
