I hate to do it, but I am without an answer once again. I can't seem to lock my AFR's when tuning with the MAF. For once I was smart enough to log what I was able to see while driving. Here is a screenshot of a spreadsheet I made up. It is a comparison of the average AFR's per Maf Signal. I made several logs, at different TPS%. The ones shown are at 10-20-30-40and 50%, from left to right. I ran each test drive the same, from a dead stop I applied the appropriate TPS and held it there until I pretty much couldn't go any more with it. For these test, I disconnected all reference to my VAFPR and ran with a single constant fuel rate. I only went into boost on the 50% TPS run, so boost wasn't really a factor. Map values throughout each run were fairly consistent as follows. 10% - 50's Kpa 20% - 70's Kpa 30% - 80's Kpa 40% - high 90's Kpa 50% - up to guestimate of approx 115 Kpa (3 bar map not displaying properly at this point, factor a little off) As you can see, at 30% my AFR is almost dead on (targeted 13.1 OL for all logs) But all of the other TPS position are a fair way off. These are averaged values for those frequencies, so as you can tell it is pretty damn close at 30%. Now for the question, how can I adapt for the difference in TPS%? I would assume by using something that referenced MAP value but I can't figure out what . I was thinking Prop Gains but I'm running OL and don't know much about it and didn't want to experiment with them to see, afraid to screw too much of it up (AE was not a factor either after initial accel according to log data) Left column is MAF Signal, center column is averaged AFR per that frequency, and right column is the offset factor (% of target)

I figured out at least one of my problems...not including me well I guess it was me, I screwed up when I added the injector pw vs battery voltage table to my xdf by 3 bytes and subsequently edited it resulting in incorrect points being entered. Problem is fixed and on to the next thing...

After some lengthy searching and more reading of the source code, I spotted the note about AE being changed to synch mode which got me thinking, maybe I should run in synch mode only. I made changes to my bin to enter and exit asynch at 6400 rpm to prevent it from ever engaging and went for a drive.

I believe that it resulted in better response to the gas pedal. That is the way it felt to me, actually by a fair amount, but I have nothing to prove that with.

I also ran into wilder AFR swings that I am seemingly not able to correct with the airflow vs MAF table. The changes worked and everything but they seem to go overboard, lean first log, make corrections, rich second log, make corrections and lean again.

One of my big problems is that I keep seeing other things to edit and I make too many changes at once. I have no one to blame for that but myself and I will have to work harder on not doing it since I am at the point where I have no idea what I did right or wrong.

I was instant messaging while reading and was discussing tuning, I made some edits at that point that I had originally thought I had made before (probably did and went back to a different bin) but did not add it to my list of changes. short story is I don't remember everything i did anymore (made some edits to PW offset vs battery voltage, bpw bias, MAT multipiers, experimented with a coupe of other things but put them back after)

I'm thinking as I'm typing again...... Is it possible that blm's are affecting me in open loop if I didn't clear them from the last time I was in closed loop? I was trying out CL the other night after I made those tables you see in my other post and it had some stored values. I changed the bin back to open loop today and set the min max blms to 128 but if I remember right it still had different blm's showing in the log.................. (just verified, there are in fact stored blms in my log that are not at 128)

It's too bad it's 2 am or I'd be going for another drive right now.....

I'd better stop typing before I think of something else I screwed up. tomorrow night I will go back to the bin I was using for the 1st post and clear the blm's. I will then set it to min max of 128, and then change it to synch mode and start driving again. I'll come back and make myself look foolish tomorrow night

After changing over to synch fueling mode and screwing up some other things, I was unable to recreate this issues, instead I had AFR's all over the place. I went back and fixed my errors (did not clear BLM's when changing back to OL and edited wrong address due to an xdf error) and was able to retune in Synch mode with the same results.

I am starting to wonder if my problems (as documented above) are all based on my AE settings. With the S/C, my map is constantly changing by fair size amounts. After looking at my logs to see what I could experiment with, I came to realize that my display for Delta Map is not right (I used the wrong factor)

What I am wondering is if I should zero out the AE altogether and do a real long accel at very slight throttle (say 5-10%) to set my MAF table (I'm considering doing it in one gear to prevent the load change as it shifts). Then go back and run it at 15% and try modifying the AE settings to bring the AFR's in check. Continue on for other throttle angles until I have covered all bases.

I will continue to think about it over the day and maybe I can come up with something by tonight.
