Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

Load the "chip" on the board with the supplied file or the S_AUJP (41026 version) modified to your calibration first.
That will be the default file should the memory onboard get a glitch.
After that yuo just use your fav bin editor and make changes. Save the file with updated checksum (if your program does not do it automatically)
Close the editing program and open the RT4 tools software that MonteCarSlow has created.
There is a link to it in some of the threads concerning the board.
Click upload bin and select the file.
Done.

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

Problem is i ordered the chip from Moates with VATS installed.
Changed the bin file, but could not get it to up load with TP.
I downloaded the RT-4, but nothing seemed to work.
Finally i deleted the settings for the aLdu1 and just used the settings that windows wanted to use and the RT-4 uploaded the file.
I still cant get TP to reconize the ALDL?
Guess i need Moates to brun me a bin file that does not have VATS so if the thing chashes the default will be no VATS.

Thanks,
Dave

Just to be clear-
1) Am i to understand that the only to load a bin file is with the RT4 tools?

2) The "chip" on the board that i had Moates burn with S_AUJP has the VATS enabled. Should i change that chip to one that does not have the VATS so that will be the default, no VATS in case the on board memory gets a glitch?

3)Is there now a way to load a bin file with Tuner Pro, or RT Tuner, or are they only for modifying the bin file?

4)Also if i have Tuner Pro can i data log through the ALDL?

Thanks,
Dave

You should use your "good" starting point bin file on the onboard chip.
It is the "backup" that will be loaded should there be any memory problems.
That is doubtful but is a designed in feature that will keep the system running. I update mine periodically so the best file I have is on there.
If you don't have a VATS box then yes, uncheck VATS in the base chip.

They can only modify the bin. Must use RT4 to upload.

Any logging program will work.

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

I think i spent most of last night up for hours reading everything that came up under the NVRSRAM search.

1) It seems to me that some other people are having trouble as i am getting the Tuning Pro to see the ALDL with the NVRSRAM installed, and hence no data log.

2) Monte Car says that we all need the capicator installed, but my kit did not come with 1 for the main chip. Do i need to do this mod?

Thanks for all the help here, i love this site!

Dave

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

Is there a way that i can change the program on the base chip through the ALDL, or do i need to have another chip burned without the VATS?

The base chip is the C2 SST 27SF512 Chip from Moates.

Thanks,
Dave

I never got an answer for this, but still need one?
Do I have to have someone with a "burner" make me a new eprom chip with the VATS "disabled"?
Or is there a way that I change my eprom through the Rtp-4 Tool?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

You have to physically burn the chip. It cannot be burned through the ALDL

good luck with it

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

I think you can use your set up to burn the chip if you put it in the right socket.http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/di...k-based-2.html (GUI for nvram-hack based "emulator")
I could be mistaken

Re: NVSRAM Help Upload Bin File?

There is no way to burn the "base" chip while in the ECM.
Its not really a big problem.
The only time that will reload is on a real bad error or you hit the reset button on the tools app.
Let it load as normal, make a change to the bin you are running and upload it.
The memory bin will allow the car to start.
You should get another burned with VATS out (and your best tune to date) but it won't stop you from driving now.

That's what I thought, need to get a new eprom without the Vats just in case.
I will have Craig at Moates burn me 1 with the current program.

Thanks,
Dave
