Hello all, awesome forum you have here and a most interesting hobby. I came across this place during a search for my tranny. I was shocked when I noticed you guys are using 27Cxxx eproms in GM computers. I have been programming those chips for about twenty years in the satellite industry for free porn...Haha, and always drive the bowtie. I have an ancient ISA Sunshine burner from about 1985 and stacks of 128,256 and 512's. The PC is a blazing fast 286sx16 and runs DOS 2.1. I also have some super cool, back in the day hex editors and other misc utilities. When I was a kid I did some coding on the 6809 based coco.
I was pretty disappointed when I pulled out my computer today and found the chip in a memcal(?)
I guess I am going to put paperclips in the holes in the bottom of that module, so they reach the socket on my burner to read it. I suppose I am going to remove the chip and put a ZIF socket there when I can get one because I really don't want to erase that original, and I figure I am going to have a few different programs for the highway and the mudhole before this is over, oh yeah, I have a 93 2500 4WD Suburban with a 5.7 and the big transmission.
What do you guys usually do about this? Thanks for any pointers.
Wow, thank you. Now, do you have the magic parameters to make my stock 8600LB truck get 35MPG on the highway..haha I'm sure I'll be back with all sorts of stupid questions. I am going to try and make the one transistor cable to attempt some logging now while I figure out what else I should buy.

You are going to want the two transistor cable, since the setup is 8192 Buad in the PCM. Be thankful though, 8192 baud is gives you much more information than 160 baud does.
I know some parameters to help the fuel mileage of your truck though. My 5,500 lbs G-Van with its modified TPI engine gets 21 mpg on the highway.
One other thing, download this package. It has several hacks and a few .bins. If you look at AWBK, it is a factory L05 TBI 350 4L80E .bin. It should be very similar to what is in your truck.

I have been logging a few days now. I was wondering if someone smart could look at these logs and make some suggestions.
When I try to powerbrake I am surprised it retards the timing..? No knocks or anything. Seems it should advance. I also think I have an o2 sensor ground issue based on some of the wacky voltage readings. Thanks for reading this.
