I am new into the tuning and diagnostics of the TPI. Does anyone know where I can get a professional book that will get me started?

Besides the GREAT stickies in this forum I have a few different books you can pick up in any Barnes & Noble. Engine Management (Advanced Tuning) by SA Cartech. That was a good start for me.

Agreed, the best guides are not books at all, but posts, threads and websites.

I have a book from SA Books and another one from another publisher. I've only read one, and all it had was basic "Here's what an EFI system consists of" with just a smidge of possible information that could help to tune with. Very disapointed. The other I've started reading, but then had other things I had to do, didn't seem to have much more information than the other book, just more "An EFI is this".

Getting a good understanding of how the "System" works will help you the most.

This is the problem. I wish there was a nice step by step guide. Seems like all the information is in a million different places and you have to gather it and put it together like a puzzle. Where is the TPI tuning for dummies?

The problem is there really is no step by step. Every combination is different, and will need different variables changed.

Every bin/mask is a bit different in what they need to chaged to get the same or similar results.

About the only thing that seems to be sort of consistant accross the GM tuning (at least where SD is concerned) is the BPC, start with that, adjust for 14.7 AFR idle and then tune from there, and even then it's not a perfect way to start.

Best is to read as much as you can, almost non of it will make sense until you actually get your hand ons with tuning and even then some stuff might take a little more in depth research or explaination.

Use to be that you could go to Holley.com or Accel.com and download their tuning guides for their aftermarket EFI systems. But now the only way you can get them is to download their complete software packages which are 30 mbs or more. Theres a lot of useful info in their guides but you have to figure out what pertains to our factory systems and what pertains to their proprietary systems. They are too big to post here, post an email addy and ill shoot you a copy of both guides if your interested in checking them out.
