I'm doing some tuning and have the AUP1 AutoProm emulator, with the stock (original) memical in place the the SES light stays off but when I start the emulation or install a new/burnt chip the SES light comes on.
I need to know if there is a way to retrieve the trouble code with the AutoProm with the ALDL connected and data logging? I can't see anything that looks like it would throw a code.
some info in your sig would help, such as what year, motor, mods, ECM and fuel system your car has.
if your not getting a good burn on the chips or you have a bad bin loaded, you won't get any data.
when you turn the key on with one of the chips you burned, does the SES flash quickly?
This is a project i started several month ago...and I'm just getting around to tuning.
engine is a mild cam 406 in a 78 4x4
I installed a First TPI with a 90-92 ECU, 7730.
I'm a member over on NastyZ28 and there's a member that is helping me but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had an idea...
The SES light has only come on since I burned the chip and installed using the GP1. I can install the stock memcal and no light...install the burned chip with the stock bin and the GP1, SES comes on.???
I'm a newb...this is just a hobby and has been about too much for me. LOL
Mike is a great guy, really helpful.
his car is really nice too.
Extremely nice fella! I wish everyone was the same...sure would be a better world.
I don't have anything showing up in red within TunerPro, but the SES light is on...I know it's code 41 by installing a jumper between A and B with the key on, engine off and watching the blinks.... 3 1+2 blinks then it blinks 4+1 and starts over...4+1
i've been using the 512 chips with no problems, the fact you can see data from the ECM should mean they are working fine.
the chart that 74BIBELOT posted for code 41 is all there is to diagnosing it.
its really strange your getting that code with a chip you burned and not with the chip you bought.
recheck the cylinder number in the bin, it should show 0.00
maybe try changing it and save the bin & then changing it back to 0.00 and see what happens.
The "Cylinder Select" error (Code 41) could be because you have a V6 Memcal installed or the setting is not "00"
What is the mask ID that is on the Memcal?
Does it run with the stock Memcal installed?
Read throught the other thread (almost to the end)
You may need to turn on the bit in the bin to use the magnetic VSS input.
Turn off the code 41 indication (will make the light go out)
The VSS issue is why it stalls when you come to a stop.
The code 41 will not go away but the light will not come on anymore.
The wrong Memcal (being a V6) is my guess on that. If you ever go into "Limp Mode" the resistor values will be terribly wrong and may not get you home. You need to ensure you at least have a V8 Memcal in there.
The values will not be optimal either but you'll have a chance of running it to your house anyway.
You could just keep a spare ECM in the car like most of us do :-)
Just about ready to burn this whole truck in the back yard!!!!
I just can't figure this thing out....called Craig today and programed a chip with him...on the phone to make sure i've been doing everything correct, verified the success...programed another tonight and still get the code 41 with the burned chip and runs like crap. The SAME bin on the stock memcal NO CODE>
That is not a stock Memcal.
I'm betting the error 41 is just turned off in the "stock" one.
Burn a new chip, turn off error code 41 and it will not throw the code.
