Re: memcal needed

I'm working with Kik on tuning his TPI-into-truck swap and I think he got a V6 memcal from a mail-order chip guy he was working with since he's getting a code 41 that we can't get rid of. So we're looking for a known-good TPI memcal to use. The above broadcast codes were taken from http://www.chevythunder.com/. I know there are a lot of experts here so there may be more codes that apply than what's listed.

I think we all know what happened to the 730 ECM V8 MEMCAL prices since GM adjusted their price. It would probably be easier just to add the CYL SELECT jumper wire to that V6 MEMCAL. It has been discussed around here in about 3 to 5 threads.

jwscab,
Are you still making/selling the PCBs to install a custom netres? if so, can it modify the knock filter freq. bandwidth for various cyl. bore sizes?

How do I know what memcal I have in the first place?

Does the info show up in TunerPro?

I will keep that in mind in terms of helping you in the future. I have some brand new AUJP MEMCALs in original GM boxes. I would sell you one for about $1,000.00.

I have a v6 memcal if you pay shipping + 5 bucks it's yours.

I have three, one I know come out of a V6 and the other two are giving a code 41. I don't know how to tell what they are.

Re: memcal needed

kik_start,
Read this thread. It talks about the wire (they used a resistor) that you can install in your V6 memcal to remove the error 41 code.

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/di...ght=cyl+select (Cylinder select netres values?)

then he answered your question by just quoting your early post. as in, look for the number on your memcal here. it will tell you what it came out of.

Re: memcal needed

Everthing is good...

I'm a newb to all this and it seems I've been strugling trying to figure all this out.

I have had a lot of help from a bunch of folks and I really appreciate it. This has been a challenge for a (at best) shade tree mechanic...hahaha

Re: memcal needed

Hey Junk, the memcal I put together is only 2/3 of a memcal, the prom and netres. The netres I put on it mimics an AUJP prom. I never got around to building up a prototype knock module to go in there. I need to brush up on microcode to program a pic/micro to drive the intersil chip. if that were ever to happen, you can have pretty much open freedom on the knock circuit. you can change the frequency, gain, and bandwidth of internal filters on the chip. it's pretty neat.
