Some newb questions about 7747, Tuner Pro, and Batronix

I have been reading a lot in here, went through the whole new to burning thread.

I am using Tuner Pro and I have a Batronix BX32P Programmer. I'm not programming yet, I'm just trying to understand what I'm looking at.

Here are my questions...

1. Tuner Pro asks for a Bin and a XDF file. I'm using Bin's from a 1227747 ecm and the only XDF file that recognizes them is 6E.xdf. Is that OK to use?

2. My programmer uses "Prog Express". It can't auto identify the chip source. I enter AM2732A and it offers me a choice of 10 different versions. (-20DC,-25DC,15DC,15DI ect) How do I know which chip I have. The letters and #'s on the chip don't match anything there. I have been just randomly picking one.

3. When I read the chip(s) in Tuner Pro some things don't make sence. For instance. I have a 1987 4.3L engine and it says that it has 8 cylinders. Another chip I have has a code that dosen't match any of the cylinder options. What is up with that?

4. I am running a closed loop system with an O2 sensor, map, coolant, ect. It says that the "Analog MAF Meter" is in use. Is that saying that I'm set up for a Mass air system?

5. I'm showing "VATS" is enabled. Is that Vehcile Anti Theft? I don't have that?

6. It shows that the rev limiter stops fuel at 31.88 rpm and starts fuel at 26.76 rpm. I can rev past 4k with out a problem. What is going on here? There are a lot of things that arent right in the general peramaters. I think I have the wrong Bin Definitions but if I load it with the 7747 bin it comes up blank.

I keep getting an error when I try to open it with WinBin.

Please, any help is appriciated. I'm just trying to get an understanding of what's on the stock chips right now.

Thanks
Aaron

Re: Some newb questions about 7747, Tuner Pro, and Batronix

  1. that's the wrong XDF, the one you need is $42 and you can download it from here http://tunerpro.net/downloadBinDefs.htm
  2. your chip (I believe) is similar to Intel 2732 (25V)
  3. again, you are using the wrong xdf
  4. same as above.
  5. VATS is anti-theft. It uses the chip (resistor) on the key to verify
  6. you are using wrong XDF
hope this help

Re: Some newb questions about 7747, Tuner Pro, and Batronix

Thanks for the reply...

I can't get it to open in that definition for some reason. When I download it I'm right clicking and hitting "save as". Then it dosen't come up as an option when I try to change or select XDF. I start to type it in manualy and it comes up. I select it and Tuner Pro opens up with empty lists and says "no XDF selected"....

The file shows up when I explore my program files but dosen't show itself when I'm in the program. I have to start to type it in before it comes up as an option.

What am I doing wrong?

I think the VATS can be unchecked/disabled.
