As pointed out you're asking about the wrong item.
A Pocket Programmer programs EEPROMs.
What you want is an ALDL cable.
Several are available.
I use an ALDU1+CABL1 combo from
www.moates.net, when I'm in a vehicle.
I use a home made serial (MAX232 based) ALDL cable on my test bench.
There are other's available through aldlcables.com, and a couple other places that I'm not recalling at the moment.
I would suggest getting an USB based cable, since many newer laptops don't have serial connectors, and if you ever need to borrow one or buy a new one, this will make the switchover easier, if you have a laptop that has a serial connection now. USB to serial adaptors are flaky at best. I have a couple adaptors that worked, but now I can't get them to connect, and nothing has changed.
I ran into a port compatability issue last year, not with the ALDL, since I already had the ALDU1, but I had to buy a new programmer since I was using a parallel based programmer, and the new laptop didn't have a parallel port.
