Ok, car ran ok before I messed with it. I repinned the ECM pluggins and double checked them for my 165ecm swap. (replaced the 302) I have a 730 memcal out of a 3.1.
i'm pretty sure I did everything right in programming the chip before I installed it, but i'm not really sure how to read it and know for a fact that it was programmed.
Anyway the car starts and runs for half a second and then dies with the fan running.
Jumped A and B and it worked like it should with the fan running and flashing code 12, but also did 21 (tps voltage vs map readings or something. It's a little different between the 165, 730, and 302, so I don't know which one to go with)
So I try hooking up my laptop (vista) with the xtreme aldl set to 10k ohms. After messing with the comm port selections I get it say 'aldl connected', but out of the four datalog definitions, none are listed for a V6.
Since the car doesn't run I just had the key turned to run, and all of the values were 0. The tps also didn't change when I pressed the gas.
I wanted to try starting it, but I wasn't sure if I could do that with the laptop hooked up. I'm paranoid about frying things.
Also can't emulate. It's not even clickable up in the menus.
I'm using tunerproRT.
I'm thinking about pulling the ECM apart and trying it with just the stock 3.1 chip (i'm using the bypass card), but I think the 3.1 chip is setup for MAP vs my MAF.
Any tips or theories I can try would be great. thanks.

You should probably get a proper MEMCAL for the '165. That might be at least part of your no start issue.
You didn't mention any sort of emulator, like a Moates Ostrich 2.0, or anything similiar, so I would suspect that's why you can't emulate.
The ALDL cable is for datalogging only.
You need to use an ADS that matches the bin file that you are using, and would suspect that because you don't have a proper MEMCAL the hardware isn't able to interprete what needs to done to send the information down the ALDL.

I guess I was confused on what I needed for emulating. I'll have to decide if I want to spend another $175, or get that zif adapter that makes it easier to pull the chip in and out because it's not very easy with the bypass adapter I have now.
Apparently others have been using the 730 memcal with the 165 ecm. I just followed the instructions in the "v6 owners take a look thread". I really don't know what other memcal to use other than a 727.

For data logging you will need to use either the $32 or $6E ADS file. That is unless bl85c released one specifically for this swap. The ones I menion are going to be a v8 engine.
An important item to check for the SES blink. At key-on, engine-off the SES should turn on, blink off, then turn on solid. If it doesn't blink off then the ECM isn't running from the PROM.
To repeat the test key-off for 10 seconds or more. best while tuning to get into the habit of checking for the SES blink at every key-on.
For a PROM which size are they? This makes a differenc ein how they need to be programmed.
I just realized I never spliced D10 into A12, as there never was a wire in D10. I have the blk/wht ground wire going into A12, and after looking at the manual and other threads, see that they're both grounds.
Was I supposed to make a jumper from the D10 pin to the A12 wire and pin?

The '727/'730 memcal is the correct memcal you need. Like I said on the other thread try reprogramming the eeprom. Also make sure you run a new wire from D10 to A12, D10 needs to be grounded. I do have an ads file specifically for the v6 $32B files, that's covered at the beginning of the thread. You can use any $6E ads for the $6E files.
