NVSram Read/Write & Dump Issues 730 ecm

I would like to start off thanking everyone on the message board for providing the mass amount of valuable information that I have used to install fuel injection on my car.

Im using the NVSram setup, with a moates usb-aldl converter, on a 730 ecm, with the latest s_aujp_v4 1026b bin

I can get the computer to connect and datalog with tunerpro rt.

My problem is when i go to use the bin2ecm, ecm2bin, dumprom software. I can not get it to properly function with the ecm. When i use the bin2ecm I get a error saying that i might have a possable bad nvsram, and it wont go into mode 4 to flash the module. Dumprom, and ecm2bin don't function either.

I had shut off all other tuning programs. tried using the active state tcl (dos type emulator), the dos commmand prompt (through the programs/accesory menu) still none work

I tried it with 2 laptops 1 new one with vista (ack), and an older 400mhz with win 2000. both having the same result

I did notice that on the nvsram the vats is still enabled and is showing a fail code (hence no fuel during startup) could this be the problem in a failed condition disabling the write mode4 to reprogram the chip ?

I can get it to start with the memcal only (vats & egr disabled) !

I have all of this hooked up to a 383 w/ a bunch of mods including a weiend single plane w/ 1000 cfm tb, 34 lb/hr bosch III's, wb02 (hooking up after i solve this problem.

Any ideas on write issues?
thanks

Re: NVSram Read/Write & Dump Issues 730 ecm

I didn't have much luck when using the DOS commands at first either.
Not sure if it was my computer or what.
You may want to try th GUI software. Works good and is easier than doing the dos prompt stuff.
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/di...730-727-a.html (nvsram module for 730 / 727 / 749)
Its in the second link MonteCarSlow posted in this thread.
You may want to get the latest TcL stuff from the site depending on your system.

Make sure your base chip (on the adapter) is programmed correctly and inserted right.
That would cause problems too because the ECM software and code for Mode 4 wouldn't be running.

Ah ha !! I figured it out ! I was using the older rtp4.zip file thinking there wasn't a difference between that and the rtp4 tool.zip (originally i couldn't open it with winzip) I was able to open it with winrar and now it works like a champ !

Thanks for the help jp86ss !

Time to go charge the battery get rid of the vats error start it up and wire in the wideband ! (and strip it, and paint it ugghhh)
