Burning a stock .bin file?

I am unable to read a stock bin file...I think.

I have the following:

1227747
either AKMH or ASDU chip

Moates Burn2
Flash & Burn software
TunerPro (using 42.xdf)

I always get a "PROM I/O Succeed" message, but the .bin file just doesn't seem right. For example, the main spark table has the value -57.66 in every cell???

The settings for F & B are:

2732A
Chip Start: 000000
Chip End: 000FFF

Buffer Start: 000000
Buffer End: 000000

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

One more thing...

I am placing the stock chip in the BURN2 - notch towards handle, and chip aligned with bottom of ZIF socket. Just thought it might be relevant.

Your trying to burn a stock chip? Is that possible?

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

Sorry if the title is confusing. It should be READING. Not Burning.

I can't seem to READ the data off the stock PROM.

(I will be burning to an aftermarket EEPROM)

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

Would it be easier to just take one from here:

http://www.moates.net/fileman/index....ock%20Binaries

rather than reading your chip? Seems it would end up in your editor(Tunerpro) regardless.

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

I agree with you, BUT if there is a problem that I don't know about, just getting a .din file is only a band aid. It solves the immediate problem, but not the underlying issue as to why the .din file I am generating is garbage...

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

Can you read an aftermarket EEPROM or does the same thing happen?

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

The only EEPROMs I have are blank. I will try to download a .bin, burn it, and then try to read it, and compare the results.

I will get back with you.

Thanks for the help so far.

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

Ok...Downloaded .bin loads onto chip just fine. I am able to read it just fine, and TunerPro displays plausible data...

So, I could just grab a .bin and forget this ever happened. It is annoying though.
I am not going to pull my hair out over it and just grab the .bin. Is there a link to find a list of BCC's, and their applications? I didn't see the AKMH .bin on Moate's site. I need one for a 4.3L automatic.

Aggravating...

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

What size is the file that you are saving? It shojld be 4K, I bet it's larger.

You will need to set the start address(es) to read just at the beginning of the data.

I don't have a Burn1 or 2, but if it's loike what I have used you should be able to read the EPROM, and see what address the data starts at, in the buffer, and then use that address to start the read from. I've done it another way, but don't recall what it was now.

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

I seem to have worked out the issue. The Buffer End was set to 0000. When set to 0FFF like the chip end, the proper 4096 bytes went to buffer and saved appropriately...

I appreciate everyone's help.

Re: Burning a stock .bin file?

As far as I know there is no list of what code goes to what engine, if someone has one that would have been amazing back when I needed a stock one.
