what has to be edited on the 7427 to use as a tranny controller along with the EBL

I've been out of it for quite some time and feel like I forgot more than half of what I used to know lol.

I have unset each of the engine diagnostic codes, but there must be more to do than that since the tranny is still not shifting.

thanks in advance,
Phil

What signals are you giving it? For the trans, pretty much everything is needed to make it work correctly. TPS, MAP, engine speed, DRPs, TOS speed, cool temp, trans range, etc. Basically it would need just about all the signals that would normally be needed if you where to use it for controlling the engine and transmission.

I wired it up as per Bob's instructions that came with the EBL:
system grounds, dist ref,diag test,tps,sensor grounds,tft,cruise signal,tranny wiring,brake signal,ign and bat feeds,mil,serial data and vss.

I was wondering about the ect but no mention of it in the instructions so I never added it in; I just assumed the code looked at the tft instead.

There isn't anything that needs to be changed in the '7427 to get the trans to shift. The MAP signal can easily be added. Splice into it and run it to the '7427 also. Although it should not be required.

If nothing else was changed, just the adding in of the EBL, I would double check the re-pinning. There may be one out of place. Then check that the connector is plugged into the tranny, fluid level is OK, and so on.

If you have a scan tool for the '7427 connect it and see what it reports for sensors and switch positions. The shifting is controlled by the '7427. The EBL Flash ECM doesn't have any input to the shift logic.

Does reverse also work? So it is bascially 1st and reverse with no upshifting? Also double check the range switch pins at the PCM. Make sure that they are properly located. They tell the PCM ('7427) the gear shift lever position. If the PCM thinks it is in 1st/lo, it won't command an upshift.

RBob.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear, the transmission starts off in 3rd gear (and yes has reverse) as if the pcm as in limp-in mode.

Last night when I was datalogging, I manually shifted through the gears to populate different areas of the table, and then on the way home it shifted on it's own. To be honest, I can't remember if it shifted properly back in march when I first installed it, but I kinda think it did, so I am going to go back to the logs i had from then to see;the truck has been sitting there since then.

You no know what, lol, I'm gonna go look at the wiring, put an old chip back in, and then throw my scanner on and see what is going on, I'll come back when I can be more clear with the problem. Truck has been down for a little over 3 years now, and the rest of the family is on vacation so I am a little over excited about getting back to the tuning.

On a side note, I changed the injector BPW offsets to some values I had taken down in march (cant remember where they are from, but it is where i had gotten to last time) did a few VE learns. Double checked BPC vs Vac values vs FP sensor and map value and they all seem to work out as per table . Everything appears to be falling right into place.

I'll be back in a while with some real information

Re: what has to be edited on the 7427 to use as a tranny controller along with the EB

It appears that at least one wire had pulled loose from the 7427... I never put the locks back in since I didnt get a chance to test it out... so I pushed them all in good and tight and went back to an old bin and she is shifting normally.

When I scanned it there were 3 codes that came up right away, 15 ect,34 map, and 54 fp relay. Should I add some more wiring to include the sensors? or edit the bin to remove the codes?

I went for a few drives today, slowly but surely getting the Ve learn to do its job. On the way back from my final log of the day,of course it was my highway run, something went haywire. It appears the MAP signal went inaccurate and started to dump fuel in like crazy.

Another bad connection caused the issue so I put all of the lock back in the 2 pcms, hopefully that will take care of those types of issues.

Starting to have fun with this again
