Moates zif memcal and adapter

Shouldn't the car be able to run off the memcal if I were to disconnect my ostrich from the moates zif adapter?

I'm trying to chase down an electrical issue. I found that the slightest pressure upwards on the zif socket handle causes the car to instantly die.

I'm going to grab another zif socket but I want to be sure that my memcal or moates adapter isn't fried as well.

I had same issue with ZIF. Not sure if it was at the socket to ZIF or the prom to ZIF. If I was to reapproach that issue I would solder in ZIF and replace the socket.

My car would run off Memcal when it happened(7747 TBI).

My car doesn't run with the ostrich disconnected. I figure it's either too heavily modified or my memcal/adapter is shot.

Are there any tests?

Once the injector size starts moving up the limp mode gets out of calibration. You can check it by disconnecting the injectors, installing a noid light, remove the ostrich, then cranking the engine. Should have both spark and the injectors firing.

Does it tend to flood out when the ECM goes into limp mode?

Re: Moates zif memcal and adapter

It stops running completely.
I'm chasing down an issue i'm having.
I'll be cruising and suddenly the car shuts off and then restarts on it's own. During this time of <1 second, my tach and speedo plummet as if the power was killed to the ecm. I've verified constant switched power even during this event.
I've swapped ignition modules.
Replaced the ecm.
Replaced the ignition switch.

All to no avail.

What about a short in the ignition lead to the PCM its self?

Which car is this, the '88 or the '92? The '88 ECM doesn't handle the speedometer, while the '92 does.

Re: Moates zif memcal and adapter

It's the 92.
So far i've found that I have 12v constant on the pink/black while the death is happening. That is apparently the main power to the ecm.
I found that I'm losing spark signal between the ignition module and the ecm.
Haven't check any wires going from the ig switch to the ecm as of yet.

I figure i'll see if the car runs with the stock memcal hooked up and NO emulator. If not, then i'll run a continuity test on the moates adapter.
Hopefully it's the adapter.
