| Lean Spike I've been doing research for months about the lean spike I have when I mash the go pedal. It seems that this topic has come up many times in the past. I am using 6E.
The lean spike is very short and occurs as I put the pedal to WOT. The lean spike jumps to 17-18 on the wideband. It doesn't last very long, but the ECM is picking up knock counts.
Some things I have read say it is going to happen regardless because my foot can add air faster than the ECM can add fuel. So I am trying minimize the effects. Normal driving and WOT are dialed it.
I'm looking at AE, and the stickies are a great help for understanding what each table does. I have made changes and have recorded the changes in my logs. What I cannot find is what/when does AE actually occur in 6E?
I have noticed that when I have the car in 1 (auto) and gradually increase the throttle the AFR tracks with it going lean. So I was looking at something related to TPS. I'm not seeing it.
I have however lowered PE to occur at 1.25 volts at the TPS, then I smash the pedal, the lean spike happens, isn't as severe, and the ECM does not pull timing. The AFR when I smash the pedal is in the low 13's. Before I lowered PE, I was seeing AFR's in the 15's during acceleration.
I woudl like to take care of this to the best of my ability. I understand that if I have the car in D and mash the pedal, I may never overcome this. I am thinking about running higher octane fuel to eliminate the knock counts?
Sorry this is so jumbled. I am at work and wanted to get intelligent people looking at my issue asap.
Thanks,
