| Re: What all does the ECM control? It controls the torque converter lockup, so that's definitely one issue when swapping to carb. Depending on the year, it may also control the speedometer (90-92 Camaro, 86-92 Firebird). Those are the years with electronic speedos, I'm not sure if they can be rigged to work without the ECM. The ECM also controls timing, but that can be fixed by replacing the distributor with a vacuum advance one.
