ok, here is my plan,,advice needed

I have a 1986 iroc with a 350 installed,,,stock 305 chip.
Instead of spending the money on a chip,, I will spend approx the same money on a programmer and burn my own. I have an ALDL cable and am able to log.
But; it is a pretty big learning curve for me.
So in the mean-time I will just burn a chip that will allow the car to run a little better than it is now. It runs pretty good now with timing @8 degrees and the knock sensor unplugged (because I still have the 305 ESC).
I have a 1227165 $32 now,,,correct? (1227165_160baud.ads)
I have the 9th injector delete, so I will use a ???? $6E from a ???1989 350 tpi.
I have iron '882 heads with flat-top pistons,,,so I want a prom from an iron-headed tpi,,,correct??? Which .bin is the Iron-headed tpi prom?
I have 28lbs ford injectors "blue-top",,,so; I will use and injector constant of 25.6 with a pressure of 43.5 psi. I have an AFPR.
I will delete the egr code. (egr delete obviously)
AIR pump delete also. Vapor cannister delete.
These changes will surely help my car to run better.
Later,,, I will make changes (when I learn how..) to compensate for my 222 @.050 ,,,, .450 lift @ 114lsa cam that I have installed right now.
The car runs "acceptable" now with the stock 305 chip, so with these changes it should run great. I know it will not be perfect, until I compensate for the cam,,but it should be OK,,,
Anyone have any advice for me? Please understand that I am new at this so dont get complicated on me. Also the stickies have a lot of outdated 'links' on them so learning is going kinda slow. Car also has shorty's and good exhaust if that matters much. And fully ported stock-tpi.
Thanks
Oh yea, and I will have to disable VATS (but im not sure how,,, is there just a switch ?)

IMO you should have a junkyard around and you can pull an ecm out of a 350 camaro or the same engine is yours to make it work dont' quote me on this but you might actually save alot of hassle and money as i dont' know to much about ecm's as long as the numbers match it should work. Please someone step in and see if i am wrong . I been wrong before.

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/el...tor-value.html (VATS resistor value)

here are the values if you don't have the key. Or read on and if you can find another steering column and vats module you will be in business on that department.

VATS is easily disabled in the chip.

There should be a "flag" designated as "VATS" or "VATS enable", or something along those lines, that would need to be "unchecked" to disable VATS.

If you don't find the flag, try another XDF for the mask you are tuning, not all XDFs are complete.

Check here:

http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/

He has a bunch of '89 f-body BIN's on his site. They will make a good starting point for your tune.

AUJP is an $8D bin, and is for speed density. As suggested, go to the moates.net site and use th efilemanager to find a good $6E bin.

Re: ok, here is my plan,,advice needed

ok, no problems here finding the bin. I just dont know what the different ones are. Like which one is for an (iron-head) 350.
The 4-letter code is the "BroadCast-Code". Correct?
I found them for 5-speed cars, automatic, 3.27 rear gears etc...but I can find NO information on the heads. I have even found imfomation that the Iron-headed L-98 SA-Tables wont work right for my 882 heads. But they should be close enough to get me started, right? Is there an l98-ironhead broadcast-code or should I just start with a 305 bin??
Thanks for all of your patience and help.

What's wrong with starting with one of these?

Code:
 ANYJ9304.bin Stock '89 IROC 350 w/A4 & 2.77, A/C, fed (Personally Read from chip) ANYJ 9304
 AUJL.BIN Stock '89 IROC 350 w 700R4 & 2.77 (GH3)(Personally Read from chip) AUJL xxxx
 AUJM.BIN Stock '89 IROC 350 w 700R4 & 3.27 (GW6)(Personally Read from chip) AUJM xxxx
 APYU3516.bin Stock '89 Firebird 350 w 700R4 & 3.27 (GW6) FED APYU 3516
ALL f-body calibrations are for iron headed engines. Only the y-body's received aluminum heads.

Re: ok, here is my plan,,advice needed

ok, using everyone's help (and the TGO search)I have edited my own chip.
I used AUJM $6E.
I changed the injector constant, removed VATS, disabled EGR.
Missed Monday Night Football to do a lot of reading.
This should get me started just fine,,
Thanks to everyone.
I will report back on the results.
Im ordering a programmer thursday (payday), and will burn and install as soon as I get it. Then; its a lot of datalogging, BLM adjustments and SA table adjustments etc......Wish me luck and thanks again
