Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

Hi guys, finally getting the camaro back on the road, I got an aldl cable (usb) and some software with it, I tried going through what they sent me but nothing connects or shows info. I used the hyperterminal and it does connect and gives me a bucnch of wierd symbols constatly. I have an 89 camaro, it was a 305, I did the 350 conversion along with the esc, knock sensor and injectors for a 350 while keeping the 305 intake and heads. The ecu is 86ANTT service # 1228746 k183350743 16127501 bar code is 86anttk183350743.... I have switched the jumper around and back many times to no avail, currently trying to use freescan that came with the install cd on win xp on com 1....

Best bet is to use WinALDL. Can get it directly from Joby's site:

http://winaldl.joby.se/

Note that you don't need any resistors or jumpers across A&B for the '8746 ECM.

Re: Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

Thanks for the help, I can't seem to get that page to open though. Any other sites? ALso I was wondering if I could pop in a prom from a 350 tbi truck? Would the anti theft mess with it or is it worth it just to get some ideas on where to start the tuning process.. thanks again

Re: Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

Try the link again, there may have been an issue with the site or connectivity. Was able to connect a few minutes ago.

Best to start with the ANTT calibration. The only 350 calibrations available are for heavier vehicles.

Re: Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

ALright well my chip says antt 8026, I'm new to this and don't know where to start..That being said I downloaded winaldl, it is spitting out info when i turn the key on on the mw2 ,promid a and b and sometimes on the iac , but not on any others, started the car and still didnt get anything except that. also I broke a arm off my chip after trying to read that data, am i screwed now until i get a new chip? Bottom line is my buddy has a byteshooter and software to burn chips am i gonna have to get some data from someone or is there a thread possibly already out there with enough info to start filling cells in or?, i did some searching to no avail...

ANTT.ZIP is attached. Use Firefox (not IE) to down load.

WinALDL has a byte counter display on the upper right, IIRC. It should be showing 20 or 21 and again, IIRC, turns green when it does. and red when it doesn't.

If you aren't getting the full byte count then odds are the ALDL cable is having issues. Could also be the ECM, but most times is the aldl cable.

Trying to use the 2732 PROMs can be frustrating. There is no standard for pulse time and voltage for burning. They also did not require a manufactures ID in the chip to define the burning algo.

Most users put a G2 adapter in place of the socket and use the more modern flash chips.

Re: Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

I downloaded firefox and a .bin file opener and am still having problems opening the antt file, I need some help on which program to use to open this file..Thanks again...Also I made a few changes to the car, I was using an aftermarket distributor kind of like an MSD knock off with a hotter pickup coil along with an accel super coil, I since have bought a reman unit from autozone so it should be factory spec, checked timing its at 0deg btdc. replaced my jet fuel pressure regulator with a factory one as well, my fuel pressure guage just broke on me so I dont know the FP.. The car is still running badly with out the ecm connected, ( since I broke the arm off the factory chip taking it out of the plastic keeper). ANyone have a ANTT 8026 chip??

Re: Need a walkthrough on aldl connecting software

if you can't get the one RBob posted, go here and setup an account,
http://www.moates.net/

after you have your account setup. look on the left side of the page for,
"File Uploads and Downloads"
click it and sign in.
that should get you into the Moates file area.

look for "Stock Binaries" and click it once.
now scroll down and find "ANTT_image.Bin"
click it once and you should be prompted to save the file.
note where you saved the file to and move over to the BIN folder in the tuning software you use.
