Can't get ecu to run Autoprom emulation

Hi, I'm on my 3rd night trying to get my 91 LO3 to run from my Autoprom USB/laptop. Got the driver loaded, downloaded AXKW stock 5 SPD.bin from the Moates site, which I've been just looking at trying to get familiar w/Tunerpro RT for a few months now. Downloaded 61v3.xdf.txt to run it with. Figured out the 1st night I had the emulation cable backwards, (hope I didn't fry something).
Here's what I can't figure out
In Tunerpro,
Autoprom is connected, I can enable emulation went into preferences and selected com4, upload of file went fine and RAM verification is OK.
When I start the car, the "check engine soon" light flashes fast, it warms up and then idles at 2000 rpm, I think its in limp home mode.
When I plug in the ALDL cable the "check engine soon" light stays on and I can't get the dashboard to work in TPRT. Using a 1228746-160baud Datastream definition file which says its for 5.7 LO5.
Tried wiggling connectors-no effect, car still runs fine on stock chip.

I still want to read the stock chip, could there be something wrong with the bin I downloaded? When I try to read the chip (Moates PROM I/O command) and I select 2732A it gives me an error like I need to put in a chip address.

I'm glad I started doing this now, I'm very close to pulling the motor. I have World products 305 heads I've been working on for weeks now, picked out a 210/214 @.050Comp cam and I want to be able to tune it in May, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
