Got supply of 27C256 chips, will they program ...

same as my old 27C128 chips that I have been programming for 12 to 15 years? My Pocket Programmer has selsection #10 for 27C128 chips and #11 for 27C256 chips. Is this all I need to do in order to program these chips is to select #11?

RBob: I saw your post on my other thread on this issue, but I do not understand how I can program "only the top half".

I've just started getting into this (after years of gathering up the hardware) so I might be wrong in my assumptions.

But I think he's referring to off-setting the write Start Address so that the binary is in a different portion of memory.

Similar to this:

Read the last part of the description for the 27SF512 chip:

I use Atmel 29C256 this should work out with your 27C
what happens is you use half of the atmel 256

Fill Buffer $$

Byte Program 8 bit

Program .BIN

Atmel [29c256] from 27c128

(1)
Load Buffer with .BIN
(2)
Start Device = 4000
(3)
End Device = 07FFF
(4)
Program Device

Doc, I used those very chips for years with the Pocket Programmer. They should work just fine.

ULTM8Z: What selection did you use with the Pocket programmer? Selection #11 is the 27C256 chip. I will program one chip with selection #11 as a test and use it in the car.

It's the 27C256. Not sure what the index number is #10 or #11...
