'512 chip burning question.

I am using a Burn1 from Moates and using SST 27S512 chips for my 1993 Corvette. I am having a little problem with the chips. In TUNERCAT you can add rpm to the engine with the AC running. A while ago, I had told it to add 200rpm, as I was having an idle issue. Now I have it back to 50 rpm.
The problem is it keeps going 200 rpm, even though the new chips( a few different ones used) have 50rpm programmed.
I guess I need to know if there is a procedure, besides, "ERASE chip" that ensures a new program is put on the chip.
I always erase chip, then blank check. Then I load buffer, program chip. Reload buffer and verify chip with buffer.
Am I missing something?

Re: '512 chip burning question.

Have you checked your settings in Chip addressing and Buffer addressing?

They should be Start at address 000000 and End at address 00FFFF

I just load the bin to buffer >press Erase Chip >then press Program Chip >then Verify Chip w/buffer.

These values are for the full 64K chip.

But if your only using part of the chip the chip address and the buffer will have different values. This is so the BIN is placed in the correct location by using offsets this places it where the PCM or ECM expects to start reading.

Re: '512 chip burning question.

This is interesting, my addresses are different for some reason (see attachment). Should I just change the entry manually? And, what's the effect of my addressing difference?

Buffer addressing is start 000000, and ends in 007FFF

Your prom buffer is right and the same as mine. I have checked via the moates website. I have programmed a prom 3 times today with no probs.. I am using Autoprom..

Re: '512 chip burning question.

I'm totally confused now. Here's a screenshot from Moates' website that says addressing should be 000000-00FFFF for buffer and chip; yet we all seem to have variations. Could it be that our burn process will appear to be complete but in reality contain some errors if not addressed per the instructions?

Actually if this is correct & the burn does contain some errors, it might explain some discrepancies I've noticed between my bins & the actual datalogs.......

Re: '512 chip burning question.

That is perfect, it explains everything! Thanks avst03! I had no idea what "offset" meant & still don't, but that link shows me where I want to be...... thanks again!

Re: '512 chip burning question.

One other thing.............since my original addressing was wrong, it leads me to believe the chip will appear to be burned correcty with bad addressing. I've learned something here.
