min fan turn on mph?

Is this a typo in the bin definition? It would seem that you would want the fan to turn on idling in traffic. (it is set to 8mph) Whats with the duty cycle cell for above 35 mph?

I converted from an '85 ecm with a single e-fan to an 89 ecm w/ 6e code but kept the single fan. The thing runs 100% of the time with the fan n/o request box unchecked so I know the wiring is okay, and cts reads correctly during a data log, which leads me to the prom. It is set to stock ANZA settings.

Only thing I can find that may be a culprit is how the a/c switch works. In 85, the switch is normally closed, and in 89' it is normally open? This shouldn't matter though since there are temps for the ac on or off. What gives?

Please don't bother telling me that I have a mechanical temp switch in the head because I do not. (there are plenty of other examples of 1985 tpi cars on here with ecm controlled fans)

Re: min fan turn on mph?

Got your pm. I also took a look into the ANZA bin.

FAN on/off temps are normal 226 on/220 off in this bin.

The 8 mph threshold is only used to switch between the AC on and AC off fan settings. The AC on settings will always be honored below this velocity. Be sure you are adjusting the AC on values when checking for fan operation at a standstill.

Above 8 mph, the AC off table will be honored instead if the AC is off.

The AC high pressure switch will also activate the fan independently of temperature with the fixed duty cycle value below 35 mph. Above 35 mph along with AC high pressure, the variable duty cycle table will be used instead of the constant value.

Unfortunately, none of this explains your problem unless your coolant temp is below the 226 F on threshold, or your AC high pressure switch is not opening as expected when the AC is turned on below 226 F.

When logging, look for the cooling fan duty cycle to go active above 226 f or when the AC is turned on. With stock settings the duty cycle should be 100% both above and below 35 mph.

If you see the cooling fan duty cycle active, but still no fan activation, then you likely have a wiring issue with the ecm or fan relay, or fan motor.

If all else fails, try manually opening the AC high pressure switch. Does this activate the fan as expected?
