TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Question with TP. I am trying to check that my TCC is lock and unlock? But I noticed in my Scalers
High gear and low/hi speed limit gear lock-unlock and and unlock-lock high gear low gear limits for a total of 8 scalars.
the high limits are all set to 255mph so look like only 4 are in play and it is set to lock low at 28 and unlock at 27 and in high it is lock at 30 unlock at 28
what is considered hi or low gear? are these values right?
any good primers on what the other TCC values should be?

High gear is od. Or 4th gear.
Low gear should be D or 3rd
High speed limits should be 255 mph
Low speed limits are whatever you want them to be. I liked mine locking early, 30 mph lock unlock 27 for high gear. 40-42 for low gear
Also look at tcc unlock prevention threshold. This is the mph setting tha forces lockup no matter what. You could be wot and it will lock up at that mph. I set mine high like 130 mph so my converter remained unlocked while doing a 1/4 mile run

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Thanks this helps. so lock MPH is the higher value and the unlock should be a few MPH less correct to prevent bouncing?
Also you have 3rd/o gear at higher MPH then 4th?
Is this because if your just cruising and drop into 4th quickly your Sunday driving and want the better gas mileage but bouncing around in 3rd gear around town red lights etc you want the slip and have it higher? mine are both set at 30-28 could this explain why now at 28-30 mph my car bogs just cruising (not bad) but I feel it doggying more then it should puttering in parking lot at 1-2 gear then step on it and at 30 it seems to fall on it face
my unlock upper is at 80mph, should I bump to 100 for daily cruising?
what about all these delay timers should I mess with them some are set to 0 sec

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Yeah set the lock higher by a few mph to prevent constant disengage / engage of tcc. Common for tcc to lock and drop a mph or two before you give it more throttle to maintain speed. Comes in handy when luggin up a hill the mph will dip some and you want tcc locked still.
My 4th was set low for hill climbs and such. Didnt want to crawl up steep grade at 3200+ rpm on converter stuck behind some slow sunday driver or a dump truck, because for some reason idiots around here slow way down goin up hills. 3rd gear i set somewhat normal, as alot of factory cars seem to lock in the 40-50 mph ranges. Most of the time i was in 4th but somedays its nice to keep converter unlocked when driving 35 mph or so thru town and having instant accel power when needed
You can taylor it to fit your driving style however you please. Delays and throttle positions etc can be adjusted

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
I hear ya? So I live in florida so the only hills here are from ants. Cruise on highways at 75mph and then city traffic for short period then highway
So I will bump up low to 40 range but is it normal to have the 4th then even higher? so low maybe 40/37 and the 4th (hi) at 46/43 or are they typically the same? will it cause issues shifting from 3rd-4th then maybe having a locked in 3rd, unlock into 4th then lock again? if I am just cruising from 40-75mph and I happen to drop down into 4th?

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Yeah stock bins seem to have 4th higher mph. Arap bin does by 7 mph.
Since you are highway and no hills, you can set it up something abit higher so in stop and go traffic you dont constantly lock up and unlock. Thats annoying.
Shouldnt be an issue cruising third gear locked then decide to go to 4th. It will unlock shift then lock at the higher speed. Generally anything over 40-50 i would go to 4th just for the gas mileage concerns, depending on rear gear

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Ok so something like 40 and 49 should be a good trial start with
what about at low 1-2gear ranges. I see I have a TCC TP% lock load limit at 1.9% and a coast lock release at 40MPH
so this mean at above 1.9% in 1-2 gears and below 40mph the TCC will be locked and only unlock above 40mph?
unless of course it is already in 3-4 then the otehr TCC values apply
this 40mph seems high and maybe why cruising around city and parking lots i bog?

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
jjcuff1, there is a TCC logic thread that explains a lot about the TCC logic in the ECM works. See the Tuning Guide Book sticky, chapter 5, '8063/'7747/'8746 section.
As Orr89 mentioned a lot of the TCC lockup calibration has to do with user preference.
Note that gears 2 & 3 use the low gear tables & parameters, with 4th (OD) using the high gear parameters. Don't worry about 1st gear as the 700R4 can't lock up the TCC in 1st.

Re: TP $6e hi/low gear unlock
Well just tweaked my lo/hi into 39/47 lock and it feels better for sure now maybe play with the tables
Question how is TP% calculated? So at .57v (mine is .55 ) is that 0 and 4.5 is 100 sp .7-4.5 is about 4 volts therefore 1 volt = around 25% throttle?
I am seeing my knock now right at 89-95 MAF flow, 2.5v load over 185. so this is around 50% correct? from a prior TP of around .7 cruise and I mash it to 50%
I am thinking this is still a combination of AE and I am lean at this point around 130-131 BLM with about 1-2degrees of retard
my MAF tables 1-2 I tweaked as well as lowered my inj constant at after 5 minutes my idle and under 1v TP sub 2000 RPM cruise all sits in the 127.5-130 range in the cells. I think this is ok sounds ok as well.
it is part throttle still getting lean up top
