Alternator Probs???

I've been having Alternator Probs, I've actually just garaged my car for a week. The car can't go past 55 miles per hour because or the Alternator not giving the car enough power and it's intermittantly charging...I've just decided to get a new alternator I've found one at Autozone for 50 bucks plus gicing them my old one is Autozone a reliable source....

I personally would not buy electrical components from AutoZone. Not that they are bad parts, I just haven't had good experiences with AutoZone electrical components.

I have had the best luck with NAPA, A-Line, and VANS electrical components.

The alternator should not be the cause of not going over 55 mph. Intermitten charging can be a pain but the battery should still have enough power to supply electrical current to the spark plugs and if you have Electronic fuel injectors. If the battery was week then the car would not run at all. Perhaps your computer is in a fail safe mode limiting the engine power

For that cheap you are definately getting a rebuilt alternator. A new one (not rebuilt) is twice the price and WAY better. If you buy a rebuilt one (which I did before I knew better), make sure you get at least a one year full replacement warrenty. I had try three different rebuilt alternators before I got one that was good enough to last more than a month.
