I have a Clifford Concept 60 Alarm. Last time I was under the dash changing a fuse, I noticed a coaxial cable coming from the central alarm box that tapered to a white plastic-housed copper cable that led no where, it just hanged. My alarm hasn't worked for about a month and just gave up. Does anyone know what this coaxial cable is, it's purpose, and where it plugs in (if anywhere). Thanks

its the antenna for the alarm


it should hook to the alarm brain and the other end has the shielding removed to a specific lenght to tune the recieve frequency

for best results keep that end away form metal

V8 got it correct. The antenna portion (radiating element) is the center conductor.

I got a significant improvement of range when I moved it from under the dash to under the plastic piece that runs along the window/headliner area.

Keeping it away from metal will give you the most range, but you really can't do a good job of this inside a car. Under the dash is probably the worse place though (too much metal shielding the antenna for the signal to get out...).

actualy it is not the radiating element as the it is a reciever not a transmitter the stripped portion will be a length that is equal to a multiple of the transmitters wavelength (frequency)


anther cool thing you can do is if you know the frequency of you transmitter you can recalculate the length of the antenna to be of a longer multiple to give you better range

I get over 250ft easily
you could also make an antenna to mount out side your car then you get crazy range
