PCM/4t65e wiring problem

im working on a fiero conversion using a 3.8sc and a 4t65-e transmission..
my problem is that on all the schematics i have the gear select position switch is not wired the same as the schematics i have.. all my schematics show this switch being sent directly into the PCM,where as mine is being sent into the gauge package. the pins on the pcm connector where these signals normally go are empty.

ive figured out that this is because of a UH8 gauge package on my doner car (97 olds cutlass lss)

im not sure how with this option the PCM is signaled with the current gear select.

option 1)
i could rewire the harness to send the signals into the pcm in the correct connectors. (not sure if i woud have to change my PCM/EEPROM )

option 2)
i suspect that the gear signal is being sent via the digital data line into the pcm. if i knew what format this signal took it would be a firly easy task for me (microcontroller guru) to simulate this.
option 3)
ignore it, the PCM will default to D4. im not sure what implications this will have for the correct shifting of the transmission though..

also.. i have the gear shift display console. is consists of 6 leds that light up a square hole next to the selected gear. does anyone know how this thing is signaled?

thanks..
vince..
