If it is your lock that is frozen, this would prevent it. If it is your door, it wouldnt.

Old post......

But still... How could anyone be negative about this?

ANY security system is only as strong as the material encasing the actual physical object, and a person's will. Including keys, remote entry, and proximity cards. To say that is redundant, and just plain ignorant.

It's a very cool convenience. With the addition of the ignition to the system, you simply walk up, extend your finger, and drive away. You have eliminated the need for a key of any kind.

Locks can be picked and remote signals can be recorded and duplicated. Both of those along with proximity cards can be stolen or lost, and ALL THREE can get broken.

The last I noticed, I lose my keys and remote alot more than a finger. Actually, come to think of it, I've never lost a finger. Even if you did, you have 9 other ones. I'd never even try to hide 9 keys on my car.

Thanks and well said Disturbed One.... Not sure why the concept is so confusing to some.

As for any further development on this - I haven't done any in several years. There was far too much custom fabrication to be done with the install to warrant any production of the system. If I can find a smaller, more convienent fingerprint sensor to incorporate into the system I might consider producing a new model for the future.

I think Lexus or some other Up scale car company has almost this exact thing its some sort of personal recognition... All you need is you, and the car recognises you... not sure if it has to do with a RF signal in the Key or if its figerprint technology...

UPDATE---
I just looked it up on the Lexus website, sure enough they have a chip in the key that sends out a signal, when your in proximity of the car it senses the key and will allow you to open your car without getting the key out. It also works with the Ignition...

From the Lexus.com website:
"SmartAccess
With the revolutionary SmartAccess feature, you can lock and unlock your doors, open the trunk and start the ignition-all without having to take your keys out of your pocket or purse. As soon as the sensors detect the presence of your SmartAccess key, the door unlocks when you touch the handle. "

You don't need a Lexus. My wife's 2004 Prius does the same thing. Never have to take th ekey out of your pocket. Pretty convinient when wrestling with kids of carrying packages.

Re: Fingerprint Ignition!

What I want to see is a fingerprint system with shaved door handles and lambo door latches. When you press your finger up to the scanner the door pops open. Wouldn't that be sweet to impress the ladies huh? "What can I say? I've got the magic touch."
