fusible links - replacement parts?

Hello all. I tried to search for this in the archives and don't think I found a good answer. Is there a replacement for fusible links, or do are there certain thicknesses of wires that I am supposed to place across the link?

As far as i know, fusible links are just wires of a smaller gage and will therefore burnout first to protect other components, so as long as you match the previous gage wire, you should be good.

Fuse links can be purchased at any decent auto parts store. They have slightly different characteristics as compared to regular wire. Also the insulation is designed to withstand high temp without the risk of burning. Use the correct part, they run around 4-6 bucks depending on value.
