B&M Mega Shifter Relay Wiring

I'm not going to be installing my Mega Shifter any time soon at all...but I would like to get an idea with what I'm going to be up against. I went and bought the relay needed from Radio Shack today. I looked at the instructions...and wiring up the relay...and looking at the picture really isn't making much sense. I haven't and won't be starting this untill like May or June. Can anyone give me SIMPLE instructions that I can understand? The other switches that came with the shifter look like they will be pretty easy to install....and are explained pretty well in the B&M instructions...but the relay is thowing me off. Here is a picture of the relay....and I can get plenty more pictures of anything....just as long as someone can make me understand this better. Is there only 2 wires that go to this relay...cause that's what I got out of it when I read it. From the diagram on the back...it looks like 4 wires go to it.........Thanks alot guys

i thought it was easy to read.. the box with A-F is showing the stock wiring harness. u need to extend thoes wires by about 6in. as an example the "BLK/WHT wire will go to the #5 pin on the relay... and the #9 pin will go to the orange and black pin.

You need 4.......basically a relay is something that uses lower current to control a larger current. A small current goes throught one side which contains a coil, which induces magnetism which pulls a switch closed or opens a switch (depends on whether its a normally closed or normally open relay). So it needs 4 wires. 2 to complete the circuit that powers the coil side(lower current side), and then 2 on the switch side to complete the circuit(this side of the circuit is the higher current side). Hope this helps!

look at the diagram... you see the little box thing twards the right with the zig zag mark in it, that is the relay.

ill tell you where everything goes....

wire A (BLK WHT) goes to pin #5
Wire B (ORNG BLK) goes to Pin #9
Wire C ( DRK BLU) goes to both micro switches. then from the 2nd prong on the lower, that goes to Pin #13
Wire D (LT GRN) goes to upper switch
Wire E (PURPLE) Goes to pin #12
Wire F ( Yellow) goes to pin #8

Then Pin #14 goes to a ground, like a screw or something.

so you have a total of 6 wires.
hope that helps a little bit

that helps a TON man, thanks alot! I haven't and can't even take the top of my shifter plate off to even look at the wires. So....when you say a wire like (BLK WHT) is there only one wire with that color combo? or is there actually 2 wires, one black, one white? And the "micro switch" your referring to, is that the switches that came with the B&M?

well, I went to the junkyard today, and cut out the whole harness just to see what I'll be messing around with. It really dosen't look all that bad....only one thing....In the instructions, it mentions a yellow and purple wire....it has the purple wire....but there is not a yellow wire....there is a green wire (purple and green wires are really thick) does that make sense?

Re: B&M Mega Shifter Relay Wiring

Hey,
does anyone know the part number / model number for the proper relay to do this, like the one in the picture? Or will a standard 5pin relay work for this just the same?
Thanks, Art
