If it refers to it as a Theft Deterrent system or Vehicle Anti-Theft System. That would be the pellet in the key, not an actual factory installed alarm system on the car.
I have a gm factory keypad in my 88 Camaro sport coupe. You must punch in a code or the car will not start. It has gm security stickers on the window also. The original owner i bought the car from didnt tell me much else about it though
I have only seen this keypad on 1 other camaro and that was in the salvage yard last year.I bought this 88 sportcoupe camaro for 900.00 from the original owner about 5 months ago.The car is super clean inside and he ordered just about all the options available. He told me that the keypad also controlled some sort of alarm but it wasnt working due the fact that the siren got wet.I myself have been unable to find any info about the kepad...like how to change the code or anything else it controls.I will try to get the pics today and if anyone has any type of info on this please let me know.
:hail: that is freaking sweet!! i wish i had one of thoes. so what do you have to do the car will not start ith out a code? you might want to post this in a new thread in the history board. they mght be more of a help i would like to learn more about this verry interesting.
To start the car you must first turn the key to the on position then put in a 3 digit code and then the car will start when you turn the key.If you do not put in the code nothing will happen when you try to start it.The engine will not even crank. There is a bypass toggle switch so if you dont want to use the keypad everytime you can disable it.The original owner also told me that if you keep trying to start the car without the code the hood and hatch are pulled down by a magnetic lock so they cannot be opened.I havent tried this out yet so i cant verify weather it is fact or not. Also when the car is parked there is a red led that flashes on & off on the kepad like most car alarms have
