Vats or no Vats. Help!!!

I just got a new prom for my ecm with vats disabled. But car still won't start. Fuel pump and start work, but not sure about injectors or spark yet. My question is should the vats module in the car be working in order for the chip to do it's thing. Also why can't I pull up any codes? Could this be something else? Please help!

With a prom change the ECM should basically ignore the VATS module.

zstreet, I was doing a search on Vats to see if I could get any ideas and I ran across your post. I 'm the one who burnt the chip for you. I verified again that the bin I sent you had the VATS flag disabled.

If the VATS flag is disabled, it should not be giving a code 46. I really don't understand what is going on. HAve you had a chance to check if the injectors are firing and if you have spark?

When was the last time the car was running? Has anything been done since then? Are you sure you have the chip facing the correct direction in the adapter and you have the factory memcal plugged into the adapter?

Get back to me when you check if the injectors are firing or not. It would probably be a good idea to create a new thread in the Tech / General Engine board, as this is still part of that topic, and there is alot more traffic there.

yes I have the chip in the right position and the factory memcal is still in place. I checked for spark and it fired one time the shut off.
I know the injectors are working. So the only thing I can think of is my EST for the distributor. But it's brand new. So is the whole motor. Also code 46 is also a distributor reference signal warning!
I'm going to check all conections and see what happens. Any other help would be appreciated!

Thats an old post. If I remember correctly, his problem was a broken distributor gear.
