Wiring questions, new engine..
I just dropped the new 383 into the car, but have a few problems..first, I cannot locate the origional wires for the starter..I know what they looked like, but the problem is I think that I have them confused with some ground wires that attach to the back of the passenger side head. Can anybody tell me what wires go to what back there? As for the solenoid posts, I found one thick cable going back there that I believe is black, it doesn't seem to be able to attach to anywhere BUT the starter? There is also a red cable coming from the area of the battery. That is the only one I think I know goes there. I did find a stray harness with one cable (has an eye for a post) that had two red wires going into it, and it was bundled in with a smaller red wire that looks like it fits on a post, but it has a plastic connector looking thing on it, so I'm not sure wether this went onto a post or slipped into something.
Anyway, other than that, on the transmission there is a 4-pin connector, on the drivers side near the top, that I pulled off when pulling the engine. I accidently lifted the transmission and crushed it though..so if it had a housing, it doesn't now. It only has three wires, with four pins but one of them isn't connected, I'm assuming that's correct? I can't figure out which way to plug it in. Does it matter?
This one is real important: I switched over to speed density, and I need to jumper two pins on the knock module. I keep hearing that it is located on the drivers side firewall, but I've learned by now that nothing is located where it should be in this car. Someone told me that it is the connector with 5 pins (might be 4, I have to check) is it, but I thought the knock module had two pins? It uses no A pin either, so which ones would I jumper? And if this isn't the right connector then does anyone have a picture of what it looks like?
