Those diagrams are for a Firebird.

I just had a question about those diagrams. I have a 91 Camaro RS 5.0L TBI. How will these diagrams compare to my car since they are for a firebird? I've been told that they are basically the same car. It would make sense though that the differences between them would be small/electrical.

Please help, I'm getting ready to pull my dash to swap it with a 4th Gen.

88F/Bird wiring diagrams

Vader,Thanks for the reply. My engine is a carbureted 355,and the high stall converter is locked up manually by a modification to the valve body involving a plastic check ball in a passage under the lockup switch.Works well, lockup is very firm, but not excessive.High Tech Transmission in Houma, did extensive modifications to my trans, and it has taken a good trouncing over the past two years, and still works just like it did when installed.
Thanks again,
"The Accelerator"

Re: Possible Useful Link for ThirdGen Wiring -

Hello. Do any of you know where I can get the pin outs for the engine to under dash wiring harness. I already have the pin outs for the ecm and have all that worked out but It is the harness that would connect the computer and the engine wiring harness to the underdash wiring harness. Please help me out if you have any information. I am stumped right now.

Ok, I looked through a couple of the diagrams from up top. It looks to me that if I can find a 90 or 91 3.1L V6 engine harness, I can use it for my basis for a TPI retro fit. I would only have to add a couple injector plugs and do away with the temperature switch for the tranny? This maybe easier than trying to repin a tbi harness? Yes, no any thoughts, thanks.

try these guys at Automotive Hobbyists (info@ahdol.com) - i paid 11.99 and i got an entire colorcoded set of diagrams for the entire car, which is a 90 camaro. does not matter what model they give you everything for that year.
EVERYTHING!
best 12.00 i ever spent on the car. and it is e-mailed to you so that you download it and only print the pages you need.

Unfortunately, they now require you to register. Get to a point and select "Repair Guides", and they'll have you register. Then you can see all diagrams for all 82-92 of the model you've selected as your car.

For anybody needing thirdgen wiring schematics, i have a full set on my computer ready to send to anybody who wants them,

it is the 89 model year wiring for 2.8(dont know if its the same for 3.1),5.0 E,5.0F, and 5.7

also includes body wiring and ac/wiper washer assembly, i have 9 pages total but if you only want your motor it would be 6

if the mods would rather me post it in a thread i will be happy to do that as well

got them thanks to my dad and uncle back when i was 17 and just dug them up today

Help with speed sensor wiring

ok, so heres the story... I started an engine fire and fried the computer wiring harness to the girlfriends 1986 Carberated 305 HO along with burning lots of other components...long story short we went back to vacuum controled while upgrading the cam, timing chain and cover, valve job, intake manifold, holly carb, valve covers, headers and new vacuum distributor...now we have an issue with the speedometer not working (since it was computer controlled) so...is there a way to bypass the computer and hook it up directly or is there another option besides going back old school with a cable on the speedometer?

Be sure that you have electrical speedo first, if you do then pull the dashboard back and be sure that the VSS buffer box wasn't damaged second. If the box still looks good visually then check your wiring behind the engine going to the drivers side. The wires for the speedo should be running that direction through the C100 at the firewall. With you having a fire my first guess would be that you burned up the wires coming from the transmission going to the VSS. You'll probably just have to splice a wire or two and have it back running again.

Re: Help with speed sensor wiring

so the fire never got through the firewall behind the engine but burnt up the cable going to the transmission (the speed sensor cable that runs to the computer which we pulled out). The speed cable going to the cruise control is intact and the wires going to the c100 were all ok...so in order to get it running I have to splice some wires? to where? I think I have to get a new sensor clip also since it burned up...

trace your wires from the speed sensor to the c100 and be sure that there aren't any damaged wires, if there are replace or repair them.

Re: Possible Useful Link for ThirdGen Wiring -

Through work, I can look up any wiring diagram in mitchell. If someone could narrow down how interchangeable the wiring is for third gens, I can try to put them here for all to see. Its just a lot of diagrams to copy and paste.

Re: Possible Useful Link for ThirdGen Wiring -

I need the diagram for the plugs that are going to the ecm from inside the dash for a 91 rs v6 and also an 89 rs v8 305 tbi.

If I had the diagrams for bothe cars I could probably figure it out.

They seem to differ and I'm stuck.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Possible Useful Link for ThirdGen Wiring -

I have an 89 camaro 2.8. It appears as if a wire is missing from the rear of the alternator. There is just a connector with no wire. Do you know what this wire would do? The guage just shows an 8 not the 13 it used to. I am at a loss because I can't find a disconnected wire. Please help??

Thank you ocgael
