dash

ok so im in the middle of re doing the interior. i have the car completely gutted. i just finished disassymbling the dash board. i am ordering all new gauges. and will be fabericating a whole new dash. liying behind the dash board is suprize... a lot of electrical stuff, and disconecting the gauge panel was involved. when i go to set up the new dash and gauges , umm how does one know who where each wire is foor each gauge? in the back of the panel there was the speedo wire, and two large connector blocks, do the new gauges come with combatable stuff or is this a thing that one should know about before taking it apart???
