Car: '88 GTA Engine: 5.7L Transmission: 700R-4 | The Big Three and head ground straps I've read a few dozen threads related to grounding, but I never saw any photos of people's Big Three mods. I was wondering if anyone has photos of their setups.
Also, I will attempt to see if the braided ground straps coming off the heads are okay. Is there any preferred way to get to them? If I added more grounding by the Big Three method and it cures my problem, is there any harm just leaving the ground straps alone (assuming one is the weak link)?
My issue is that the volt gage no longer reads 13-14V with no load. It's always a tick or two below 13V, and as accessories are added, it drops. With everything on but the rear window defroster, it will almost touch the red zone with the turn signals pulsing. Once when I turned on the foglights, I heard a pop and everything appeared to die (except the engine). The headlights dimmed severely - radio became static. The same thing has happened twice when I hit a bump. The alternator and battery have been tested to be okay. Most importantly, when I load the volt gage down to hovering just over red, I can put a voltmeter across the battery, and it IS showing 14.xV. I can hear the alternator pitch change as it receives more load.
Any tips on getting at the straps and seeing pics of added grounds would be appreciated. | | | |
